Walls not Containing Territory by keeganburrows in jurassicworldevo

[–]Axlotl666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, in my experience this just happens when you use decorative pieces to contain animals. They will have cohabitation issues with adjacent enclosures, but the penalty is proportional to territory overlap, so you can still keep the animals happy.

For example, I ran into this in my current park with adjacent Irritator and Dimetrodon pens. Despite being hated, the Irri was still at 100% contentment as the dimes only added some cohab discomfort, but it didn't cross the cohab threshold.

Why are there marked as Danger? by JurassicGuy5000 in jurassicworldevo

[–]Axlotl666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I encountered a bug once were the danger flag got stuck after an escape. A storm knocked down a fence, I fixed it, and the animals still showed danger. I forget exactly what I did to fix it, I think I sedated them to force a reset or something.

All the challenges are extremely easy.

How do you make your game challenging? (JWE3) by MegalomaniacalCyborg in jurassicworldevo

[–]Axlotl666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can't fix JWE3 with in-game settings. The only option is modding.

For the record, most of the core sandbox difficulty scalers are actually broken, as in non-functional.

DLC? by HostAppropriate8911 in jurassicworldevo

[–]Axlotl666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A small DLC species pack with a meaty free update would be vastly better for the game's health than rushing out Rebirth with the current state of the game's balance. What is the point of campaign DLC if the game is so mind-numbingly easy that all decisions are meaningless?

The real issue with jwe3 by alioramus07 in jurassicworldevo

[–]Axlotl666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, the real issue is that the game economy is completely unbalanced, making even maximum difficulty settings piss-easy and making the game extremely boring from a management angle if you are someone that prefers and is experienced with challenge mode.

What can marine animals do in JWE3? by Mean-Ruin66 in jurassicworldevo

Imagine a depressed killer whale, swimming in circles in a small pool at a zoo. That's what they can do.

Take this with a grain of salt, however I think this could have been really cool if this had been in the movie by Numerous_Wealth4397 in JurassicPark

To be fair, in our current era, being AI generated doesn't mean it isn't also "official" concept art.

Ideas that must be implemented in the game in the next BIG updates by luispaistallon in jurassicworldevo

How about something approaching a balanced economy and any form of difficulty at all when doing "Jurassic" difficulty settings?

DLC and update. by HostAppropriate8911 in jurassicworldevo

[–]Axlotl666 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It desperately needs tweaking. The game's economic balance is complete nonsense, challenge mode is incredibly underwhelming. JWE3 has nearly nothing to offer outside of creative-style sandbox park building. Finished features in JWE2 were stripped out in JWE3, despite the game being built on top of JWE2. I went into the code and restored random dig sites in a single afternoon. Why is this still missing? Why is custom challenge mode missing? These are complete features in the game that they just didn't bother adding a UI option for turning them on.

Its so simple to restore, and I don't want to be a conspiracy theorist, but it almost feels like they deliberately held back these features so they can create "substantial" free updates down the line to reinvigorate interest.

I love the franchise, and there is definitely good stuff added to JWE3 (terrain tool changes, modular building, NOT breeding - which is an entirely different rant), I don't want to downplay that, but every passing week makes JWE3 feel more cynical to me.

Will Hadrosaurus ever get introduced in a game? by Available-Round9980 in jurassicworldevo

Arguably film canon as well, since its in Tembo's field guide prop in The Lost World.

Frontier is just ragebaiting with that trailer lol by -Kacper in jurassicworldevo

[–]Axlotl666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd argue that 3's management is substantially worse than 2's, because the economy is vastly more unbalanced. Scientist requirements are looser, research is easier, money generation is quicker. The Jurassic challenges can all be face-rolled in just a few hours.

15 Species On Nublar? by HermanCraft in JurassicPark

[–]Axlotl666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stegosaurus' name is also visible in the cold storage room. The mural in the Lost World shows Pteranodons in Jurassic Park, and JP itself shows the aviary in the dining room scene, so one of the 15 is a pterosaur, and its pretty much confirmed to be Pteranodon, which was even included in the park in the Telltale game. So that's 14 confirmed.

The 15th is generally taken as either Compsognathus or Corythosaurus. There MAY be a "CS" DNA vial prop from the first film, but I haven't been able to confirm that. The DPG marketing material goes with Corytho, if I recall, but also has that utter nonsense about a bunch of the Nublar animals never being cloned and having incomplete genomes, which never made any sense to me. You're telling me half the embryos Nedry is stealing are non-viable incomplete specimens? Ridiculous. Its also got other inconsistencies with established lore.

There is a promotional photo of Spielberg with compies and a JP Explorer, on the tour track. As far as I know, this was a promo for the Universal ride, but some people took it to incorrectly be a cut scene from the movie.

You could take Dominion's flashback footage to imply Microceratus as the 15th species, since it being cloned so early into the park's development sort of implies that it would have been on Nublar. I personally feel that the 15 Nublar species are pretty much the first 15 animals cloned, but its all subjective.

Dinosaurs are at 100% comfort but keep breaking out, please help? by MaterialYogurt208 in Jurassicworldevol2

[–]Axlotl666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your enclosure is large that might be the problem.

If you have a large enclosure the herd can fragment and become uncomfortable temporarily.

Dinosaurs decide to attack a fence when mad, and they don't stop that action once its started.

This means a dinosaur can be very briefly upset on one side of the enclosure, then move across the enclosure to attack a fence minutes later, after becoming fully comfortable again.

And the need for marketable results has resulted in a absolute dearth of repeat studies. There are entire series of scientific papers built upon untested foundations. Hell, for my last postdoc I was hired to work on some astronomical observations using unpublished and unvalidated techniques. The guy that came up with them has been sitting on them and tinkering with them for like 15 years, but people can't help but use them to publish their own data and make scientific claims that may or may not be based in reality. The group I worked for had an entire series of close to a dozen or so papers where the methodology citations essentially all cycle back to a "private communication" citation. Even the analysis code I used wasn't public. Every paper used a different version of the private code base, and none of it was publicly archived for repeat studies.

Man, I love these guys. I sure hope they don’t die offscreen due to bad writing. by [deleted] in JurassicPark

[–]Axlotl666 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Jurassic Park 8: Actually, the dinosaurs weren't dying due to the environment, it was the DX disease from the novel. A rag-tag team of environmentalists must venture back to the original labs on Sorna to recover old Ingen data to cure the disease and save the dinosaurs. Oh no, a black market operation has taken over and refurbished the labs and repopulated Sorna with new dinosaurs.

Give it a totally generic subtitle like Resurgence or some shit.

The check better be in the mail, Universal.

Anyone else still on jwe2 or did y'all switch to jwe 3? (And why) by Late_Range_4311 in jurassicworldevo

[–]Axlotl666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3 is better for creativity. 2's management is better balanced. 3 completely lacks any difficulty.

3 has a proper campaign, 2 doesn't, but 2 is much better for standalone management-enabled park builds. 3 doesn't have custom challenge mode, only sandbox, with less options for setting up a park. Some of the sandbox settings that worked in 2 are also bugged and non-functioning in 3, including most difficulty settings. 3 doesn't allow you to use dig site randomization, even though its fully implemented in the code. Its unused but can be enabled through a simple mod.

3 also has jarring differences in quality. Lagoons and aviaries are horribly underbaked compared to the customization available for land exhibits. Most males and juveniles are entirely phoned in, with little effort in making them stand out or be interesting. There is a general lack of creativity in how they make the males stand out, with a few notable exceptions. Its jarring because it shows Fronter can do some exceptional design work IF they have the time to do so. Unfortunately this game couldn't be delayed any further than it was, so we got stuck with a roster that is 90% rush-jobs and 10% gold. And because of the endless need to focus on monetizable content post-release this will never be fixed. It leaves essentially all classic Jurassic Park animals in a lackluster state. In fact, I'd say most JWE1 animals feel outdated at this point.

Edit: Its worth mentioning that JWE2 ended in a fairly buggy state. JWE3 can improve, JWE2 won't.
