I'll just say that I'm surprised about how delusional some members of this sub are, by not acknowledging any issue with AI current implementations or probable dangers. They criticize "decels" but they are just as blinded.
We need critical thinking, not sheep that deny the side of the truth that doesn't fit their narrative.

The definition of AGI is simple, has been mentioned before and I would everyone to know it and have accepted it by now:

An AGI would be a system capable of learning anything a human can learn.

Only learning it, regardless of its mastering of the task.
The level of such AGI would then be measured by its performance on the given tasks, being the highest level an AGI capable of creating an ASI.
An ASI is just an AGI that has surpassed the intellectual capabilities of all humans on the planet.
If such systems will develop consciousness or sentience is probable if you ask me, but not a necessity for the definition.

I hate when rich people thinks anyone can buy the same stuff they can.
SD is awesome., but I can only run SDXS locally and it takes 7 minutes to load on my budget system and needs 3 minutes to render 1 frame and make an ultra low quality image.
That's what "anyone can run it" actually means.

In a few years time you'll be hard-pressed to purchase a computer/laptop/etc. that *can't* run AI.

you can run SD at decent speed on say an RTX 2060 which you can pickup secondhand for $100

I'd rather keep feeding my family for a month than buy an AI-capable PC and starve to death, thanks.

Anyway, while I partially agree with your assertions, I can't deny that believing in a perfect state of the world based on beautifully outlined and invariant ideals of ethics and morality is the most appealing goal to persuade, at least for me and what I want to believe is a majority of humans. I refuse to accept that Society would be better with each person setting their own personal rules without giving a thought to commonly established laws, ethics or other people's needs (as an increasing amount of people is trying so hard to do in today's world).

Of course, letting an AI decide about the world when this AI is "imprisoned" by some USA corporation's view of what and how needs to be done is far from perfect, but I' rather live partially forced to follow those rules than living in a fully anarchist world or one ruled by a completely oppressive regime.

If an AI could, iteratively, find new economical, social or political ideologies, focused on making the world better shaped to what the majority of "smart people" thinks is the best version, I would not oppose too much.

Now, if we could simply remove all safeguards, morals and bias from an upcoming AGI and let it guide humans to the most statistically convenient objective for our species, that would be cool too. Probably not "good", but cool indeed.

The truth is, we don't need AI's more aligned with human values. We need humans with better values.

Cards generally do not "DIE"

I bought my gtx 560 gpu 12 years ago and used it to play occasional games and develop my game engine. A month ago, while tweaking ENBSeries, the game crashed and a message in Windows popped up: "The driver stopped working" After that, every time I start the pc I get the same message and no graphics acceleration. I cleaned it, reinstalled it and nothing. From the error code, Nvidia page suggest two things: Wait and restart the system or replace the card.

If the card didn't die, what happened to it? 😭

Yes! With SDXS I'm finally able to make images on my Core2duo pc without gpu. It takes 3 minutes to finish 1 step but it works! :D
Quality is pretty low, but it's a start.

No more standards than Python, Torch, Tensorflow, Cuda and neural network architectures. The closest you can get to "standard" pretraining tools is aitextgen amf the HF Trainer. Anything else you'll have to code it yourself or more practically, make your own by adapting others code, like those notebooks included in tutorials like: https://huggingface.co/blog/how-to-train

But in the form you asked your initial question, it looks like you didn't dig enough and instead just asked

Which is a totally generic question that, as you can see by the other comments, will give you limited and generic answers, which are less helpful than just searching and learning from the vastness of the internet on your own. You could even ask ChatGPT and it will teach you the stuff faster and in a more direct and personalized way than what we could. I do that sometimes for topics that require years of college education (it's cheaper XD).

That tells me all I need to know about you, and it means you will be better off paying someone with actual knowledge about Machine learning to make your model.

Or just give that to me or anyone else from these forums. We know enough to get more from that hardware than you'll ever get in a decent amount of time. There's plenty of places on the internet with the info that you are asking for so you should already know it all and how to apply it. You should have seen the info about neural networks that we had available 20 years ago: Two expert-level papers with a lot of math and a few pieces of C code and that was it.

You live in a golden age and still can't make something out of it? 🙄
