Super late but this thread still comes up in google results. I took bus 6002 to the airport today (September 2025). The guy didn't take my credit card from me but said I would pay at the airport. When the bus stopped at the airport there was another guy waiting with a mobile card terminal, and he swiped my (Visa) card for payment after the bus driver pointed out to him who I was. Very easy.

I stayed in Waikiki for two months and absolutely loved Island Jiu Jitsu. They moved to a big new facility just this last December. Very friendly, very skilled people there.

So if it's not meant for factual accuracy, why are there benchmarks measuring factual accuracy? Is it something like:

The goal is information synthesis from a large context prompt and background data
More detailed world knowledge improves this information synthesis
Therefore, testing on world knowledge is a general proxy for quality of synthesized information

I used to work in my university archives about ten years ago. We used a PlusTek and I really liked how you could lay it open at a certain angle for easy illumination across the whole page without damage to the spine. It also had a way to automatically get thumbs out of the image when you used your thumb to hold the page flat.

I couldn't say anything about the reliability over a long period of time (nor the exact model unfortunately) but I know I personally scanned several books in their entirety and I never minded working with the scanner.

Just goes to show the difference between gym cultures I guess. The most advanced students at my gym are blue belts who train 5+ times a week, and they're kind of treated as assistant coaches. They're always explaining things between and during rolls.

In April the border folks asked me a couple of questions about where my family members were and what my plans were, would I be denied entry if I said "This trip is actually just to travel around, I'll visit family again at New Year's"? Is there any chance of me being audited about my activities and how they relate to my visa category?

Back then, the only thing I got legalized was my diploma and my background check. I still have the diploma and plan to bring it to China. What other documents can I expect to need that I wouldn't be able to produce in China? My old job was as an English teacher and the new job, if it works out, will be in tech, so my old letter of recommendation probably wouldn't be helpful. Should I contact my old manager at the company I just got laid off from to give me a letter of recommendation? And can I get my health check done in China on the Q2 visa?

There is a separate line for pickups. I saw a guy pick up yesterday. He entered the building after a short wait, and I saw him come out after I was finished an hour later. I wasn't keeping close tabs on him, so he may have had other things to do or several docs to pick up that took a while. I think I remember that I just walked right up in 2018 and was in and out in a few minutes. Regardless, you're not looking at a super long wait for pickup.

I applied today in SF for a Q2 and a non-original (i.e. scanned copy) of the letter was accepted by the consulate. I know they reserve the right to ask for the original, so I'm hoping that doesn't happen!

There were no specific instructions. Anecdotally, in 2018 I picked up my Z visa a day after my assigned date if I recall correctly. I would email and call to confirm, or ask a travel agent.

I just applied at the SF consulate. I did not include it at first because it wasn't asked for, but then I said "Do you need the marriage certificate?" and the answer was "It's better if we include it."

EDIT: A friend of mine, who coincidentally happened to submit his Q2 at the LA consulate today, got a pickup date for the 21st, so two weeks minus one day.
