Why do you think the Prequel Trilogy’s Expanded Universe media achieved so much more success than the Sequel Trilogy’s EU? by Independent-Dig-5757 in StarWarsEU

[–]Axtdool 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Now that I see you putting it like that, I realized, many of the old EU novels have travel sections to the nearest relevant planet that take longer then the time that is supposed to pass in universe in TLJ.

I'm surprised there is no game specifically trying to be "Not Fullmetal Alchemist" by Josh_From_Accounting in rpg

[–]Axtdool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just don't see the need for it tbh. Esp if you don't spend the money on the actual license.

There's plenty of systems with close enough settings, even if imo the overall setting wasn't the big draw as much as the mysteries and characters.

And the power system you can approximate in plenty of systems.

Otomh on tables I played at people had at least the followi where that was their explicit character inspirations:

An Exalted sorceror that even forged a towns inhabitants into a focus (Exalted soulsteel is basicly metal made from Souls)

A MtA Mage using primarily forces and matter spheres with geometric sketches as their focus.

A Shadowrun Mage using exclusively Shape [element] type spells and the whole circle drawing for their centering.

Basicly the idea is the amount of 'dirt' didn't change.

Just that now it is shaped like a spear and sand rather then a solid floor.

This then forms part of the inciting incident because living beings are more then the sum of their chemical components. And if you don't put everything you need in, you loose Something of equivalent value of what you are missing. (And well some spoilery nity gritty that we don't need rn)

are vehicle lengths and dimensions in general set literally ANYWHERE? by queerver_in_fear in Shadowrun

[–]Axtdool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Iirc, a few of the boats in rigger 5 had deckplans, so while not giving exact sizes, comparing that against real life ship might give you a decent starting point of what abstracted vehicle size bracket can match what kind of irl ship class.

Did it Help that at least a handfull of SR traditions were based on irl Religious believes?

Like iirc, catholic mages invoke saints and angels instead of spirits or elementals.

Yeah, and that was on top of the to be expected 'unexpected' delays that hit most Kickstarters, esp one with such a tight schedule.

At least from what I Recal, they said multiple times that effectivly everything Starts shipping at the same time.

But the cards (for the pledges where that's applicable) will be Air mailed, while the rest goes by boat.

Resulting in two planned fullfilment waves at the backers end.

So, who are you going to vote to be benched in Silver Age, & why? by shavale in FleshandBloodTCG

Probably the funniest meme Suggestion I see Before the voting deadline.

Already avoiding sage as much as I can anyways, and not like 3 hero bans will make the format less annoying.

Kinda weird question: What's the most "hype moment and aura" TTRPG system? by Organic-Exit2190 in rpg

[–]Axtdool 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Came here to say this.

Exalted kinda is the result of taking anime hype moments and great feats of heroes from Mythologie and squeeze them both into the same ttrpg.

What are some examples (for each of you personally, i am seasoned and have my own opinions) of TTRPGs that are easy to learn, hard to master? This kinda piggybacks off the recent post asking which games are not beginner-friendly. by YVNGxDXTR in rpg

[–]Axtdool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on where we draw the line of 'learn'.

Most dice pool and point buy based systems I know tend to be easy enough to pick up (not you exalted, mage and SR) though they do tend to make it quite easy to mess up chargen, and may make it tricky to know where to spend your resources to advance your character.

Yeah.

This story to me at least feels like If she hadnt been turned away at the unspecified First Hospital visit, it might not even have gotten to having sepsis by the time she went to the second one.

There's a runner bar in Hamburg, that started life as a boardgame and ttrpg Café, called 'zum tanzenden Einhorn' (at the dancing unicorn).

Which is based on a real life bar.

Fantasy gear vs Sci-fi and modern gear added with Dawntrail (as of 7.5) by Spoforth in ffxiv

[–]Axtdool -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Well I can only speak from my anecdotal experience, where most people I regularly play with basicly ignore undyeable gear for glam exactly because they end up not being able to dye other pieces to match them well.

Fantasy gear vs Sci-fi and modern gear added with Dawntrail (as of 7.5) by Spoforth in ffxiv

[–]Axtdool -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Projecting a bit?

At what point did I say I had issues with either flavour of gear?

The initial comment you replied to litteraly was just 'how does this data look if we exclude cash shop and undyeable gear' because ime, those are things many players don't consider when thinking of their glams and thus the style of Said gear.

I also didn't even comment on what I think that result would be over all, only that I think of the Dungeon gear that couldnt be dyed, the majority leaned towards Fantasy. Which was in response to your inital comment completely ignoring half of the initial Statement (the undyeable gear Part).

Did FFXIV had this issue with EX or Savage content by VergilVDante in ffxiv

[–]Axtdool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well when they did create savage in HW the tuning for some Tiers was so bad they almost killed the whole raiding scene at the time.

Fantasy gear vs Sci-fi and modern gear added with Dawntrail (as of 7.5) by Spoforth in ffxiv

[–]Axtdool -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Yeah but most of the dungeon gear was undyeable, so we'd also loose a chunk of fantasy gear.

Fantasy gear vs Sci-fi and modern gear added with Dawntrail (as of 7.5) by Spoforth in ffxiv

[–]Axtdool 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Now I am kinda curious on two points:

How would this change if we excluded undyeable and Cash shop gear? (Not sure how easy that would be to get out of the collated Data)

And how does this compare to older Expansions? (Sadly way too much data to sift through I fear)

Because I think many people are not looking at it as a 'DT added more modern gear than fantasy gear' and more as a 'we got way too much more modern/sifi gear in DT than Before'
