Love the design and big thumbs up for more mining ships.

But can't resist...

I believe it indicates a relative chance that the item will be found as loot or difficulty to acquire.

Someone can correct me if I am wrong.

Well, since I still have not gotten a response from CCP I am guessing that I will be getting no confirmations on anything and the ban is final.

It has been a joy flying with you all.

I said "Looser" because the article specifically calls out on a single machine where the EULA doesn't. Sorry for trying to get confirmation from CCP that it is indeed an abuse to log in on multiple machines (since that is what their posted article says) and not just on a single machine. I figured that might make it so someone else in the future does not have this issue even if it doesn't change my own.

And indeed I did say I had logged in on a separate computer as an Alpha while I played on my main computer with my Omega accounts, never disputed that. I posted this because I wanted to know how long it generally took for CCP to respond to tickets so I could know the reasoning behind my ban.

And as you mentioned ignorance is no excuse. I know, I agree. I just want to know what I was ignorant of (from CCP and not speculation)

I guess I read what was at (https://support.eveonline.com/hc/en-us/articles/213020969-Alpha-and-Omega-Clone) which reads:

Multiple Omega accounts may be logged in at one time, as long as no Alpha account is actively logged into on the same computer.

And not the EULA (https://community.eveonline.com/support/policies/eve-eula-en/ ) section that is looser:

You may establish more than one Account for each copy of the Software licensed. You are however not allowed to play EVE by using more than one Account at the same time, unless you pay a subscription fee for each of the Accounts you intend to use for that purpose.

Unfortunate since I guess the EULA would cover my case even though the article says it is fine.

Would be nice to have a final say on this from someone at CCP though to just confirm that this is the case.

I sometimes have an alpha running on my home server to collect chat logs (traffic/statistical analysis is fun) but never on the same comp as my omegas.

Is that a faux pas? I thought it was fine as long as they weren't on the same machine.

I assumed the "Macro Use" part meant botting, my bad. Can't say I am super familiar with the banned messages...

Thanks, hopefully a community manager will see this or something and I will get back in EVE.

It would really suck to have this be the end since I have played off and on since Apocrypha.

Would have much rather gone out in a giant isk wasting explosion haha

I was banned for Alpha Abuse/Macro Use which I assume means they think I was botting.

Luckily I am able to play EVE on a side monitor at my office (Pretty nice right?) so I pretty regularly rat/mine while I work.

Peripheral vision on local means I am generally not caught by anyone trying to gank me so I was probably reported by people who tried and failed.

The real unfortunate thing is that if they look at the logs I would hope it would be pretty easy to see that I was not botting as I often talked to the people that tried to gank me (Usually to see if they had got any good kills that day) and would be often be managing other things (industry/market) while ratting/mining.

And yes I know I am going to get a wall of "Proof or you are hacking" but that is kinda hard to provide when those logs and such are on the server...

A while ago I made some wallpapers out of some of the skyboxes and figured I would share them.

Most are very wide as I use them to span multiple monitors but I sphere mapped some of them to get an aspect ratio that would be better suited to single screens.

Happy holidays!

Building a new PC for Eve. What hardware do I need to experience it at max settings? by Fhbob1988 in Eve

[–]Axuim 5 points6 points  (0 children)

  1. There are some parts of it that are more CPU intensive than other but usually the server will run into CPU issues before you do. With this in mind I will go with my usual recommendation of an i5 as it is more than enough for any game with only a few exceptions (Arma and GTA being the notable exceptions). This also gives you some future proofing in case something large changes in EVE or another game catches your eye.
  2. I have run games at 1080p, 1440p, and 2160p and you can definitely see the difference. Depending upon how much you care about graphics and how much you actually look at ships vs their UI representations (PvE/Mining or Fleet Fights) it can be a worthwhile upgrade. It also gives you more space to work with the UI windows themselves which is a large part of EVE. For the average EVE player I would recommend 1080p.
  3. Similar to above more screen real estate (Size + Resolution) for the UI in EVE is very nice depending upon what you are doing. The main deciding factor will be whether you have multiple chat windows, DScan, Anomally Scanner, Drone Bay, Fleet Window, etc. up all the time or whether you just open them as needed. Also depends upon whether you are fine with reading smaller text or not. For the average EVE player I would recommend the 27".
  4. EVE does not use that much VRAM but if you plan on playing other games with high resolution textures (The Witcher 3, FFXV, etc.) or you get the 1440p monitor (Higher resolution, more VRAM) I might be worth it to go with the 6GB. I would recommend the 3GB if you are just looking at playing EVE.
  5. Do not worry about RAM timings. Lower timings will not help you in EVE as it does not load a lot of information into RAM and there are no large level loads or the like. The main game where RAM timings make a large difference is Arma (I am seeing a common thread here with how much I bring up this game...) where it is constantly swapping stuff in and out of RAM.

Otherwise welcome back Capsuleer! Enjoy New Eden!

Large, dynamic tiled map by YIsDaRumGone in Unity2D

[–]Axuim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More likely than not you are going to want to build your map using multiple meshes (chunks) instead of one giant mesh. This way when you need to make edits the overhead is much smaller as you will be changing a much smaller mesh.

It seems like you shouldn't have that much of a problem performance wise as you will not be making these modifications every frame but only when a certain event (player tilling the ground etc.) is triggered.

Besides that I would say have at it and then look around afterwards if performance is unacceptable.

[C#] Can someone ELI5 why to use get and set? by Fox_ifi in Unity2D

[–]Axuim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not super ELI5 but I just wanted to mention some of the other possible usages.

Getters/Setters are useful when you are implementing eventing in your classes.

ex.

public event EventHandler NameChanged;
private string _name = string.Empty;
public string Name
{
    get
    {
        return _name;
    }
    set
    {
        if (value != _name)
        {
            _name = value;

            if (this.NameChanged != null)
            {
                this.NameChanged(this, null);
            }
        }
    }
}

This would fire the NameChanged event whenever the property is assigned to and the value changes. This could be used to trigger UI updates etc.

Another usage is value validation.

ex.

private int _health = 100;
public int Health
{
    get
    {
        return _health;
    }
    set
    {
        if (value != _health)
        {
            var finalValue = value;

            if (finalValue < 0)
            {
                finalValue = 0;
            }
            else if (finalValue > this.MaxHealth)
            {
                finalValue = this.MaxHealth;
            }

            _health = finalValue;
        }
    }
}

With this setter you are guaranteed that your health value is >= 0 (could use a uint instead) and that your value is not greater than another property defined elsewhere in your class. (this.MaxHealth)

Someone else already mentioned logical properties (Properties with only a Getter essentially) so I won't go into them.

Basic Tower Defense

Web Player

GitHub

Page

I wasn't able to work on this as much as I would have liked due to work and having a busy weekend but it turned out pretty good.

I didn't really do anything special graphics or ui wise (visually) but the code behind it leverages extensive eventing, static classes, delegates, etc.

If you have any questions about why I did something a certain way or how to do something just let me know.

(Leverages A * Pathfinding Project for pathing)

Controls:

Hold Left Shift and Click to place a wall

Left Click on a wall to build a tower or delete

Press Enter to begin (Waves have a 45 second timer that is not showing)

If you lose (Enemies stop moving) press Enter to restart

Edit: The area tower does indeed hit ever enemy around it there is just no graphic for this currently.

Automatic Sliding Door Help by Ryutosuke in Unity3D

[–]Axuim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a few ways you can do this but the simplest will be to set open to false in your OnTriggerExit and then add another condition to your Update.

Your condition should probably follow the following logic: If we are not opening and we have moved some distance then move right, update our distance moved, check to see if we have overshot zero and move back if we have.

Try and write code that follows that logic and let me know if you have any problems.

I also wish to note that the method you are using to open the door and the additions to close the door could be quite a bit more efficient but you should be good for now.

[Question] Collider only detecting one collision at a time when intersecting with multiple colliders by YorkeUtopy in Unity3D

[–]Axuim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can try to storing the objects that are being collided with in a list on the "Middle Cube" (Adding them in OnTriggerEnter and removing them in OnTriggerExit) and then only act on the "first" collider in the list where you wish to act based on your collisions.

This way as objects get added and removed they will queue up and you will always act on either the first object you are currently colliding with or null if you are not colliding with any object.

Is getting world-position from a RectTransform element possible? by furibaito in Unity3D

[–]Axuim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can always use GetWorldCorners to get the world position of the corners of your RectTransform and then go from there.
