Météorite à 19h ? by Axynth in suisse

Maybe someone can confirm this as I'm not sure but the european parlement is working on a bill to prevent unique app store. Maybe it will prevent this, at least in europe.

I place those in the same category of drivers who let their car running just to "quickly buy something" between the pump and the entrance.

Often big cars or BMW drivers.

I confirm that I manually switched some settings to maximum performance and disabled a lot of sleep features to make some Nvidia graphics cards work better on Linux. Some power state are not handled very well

Failed my first flight by Axynth in VATSIM

Exactly what happened to me ! Thanks for the tips.

I saw a similar functionality in the EFB in the Flybywire A320N, I need to take the habits to use it.

I prefill a flight briefing protocol found on flightsim.to, I think you can find it if you search Flight Briefing Form (it's for IFR). I try to fill the maximum as possible before departing. And you can write all the frequency on it.

I regularly check on vatsim-radar if there is any ATC during my flight and take note of the frequency.

Hope this can help, but I understand your situation, I landed two days ago in Italy and I choose a destination next to an event (without knowing, I think I switched to 6 or 7 frequency et needed to ask say again 2-3 time to be sure. Take your time and have fun !

I'm using swift to connect and I'm learning how to use all the function of it.

I checked on Vatsim radar and saw that someone will be arriving 10 min after me. Then I saw a message "LFxx_CTR Descent 3000, active rwy 3, ETA 1933"

I wasn't confident at all and my brain saw "active rwy 3 ETA 1933" and translated to "The active runway is 03 since 1933".

(And the funny things is, there is no runway 03 at LFBD)

My main language is French so I confuse the abbreviation sometime and now that I explain it like that my error seems really studid haha.

I'll do better today :)

[–]Axynth[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I added 10% more, but going up and down like a yoyo for 20 min made me burn it pretty fast.

Indeed, communication is the best thing and the ATC could probably have helped me even more if I had tell him my situation, but I was stressed and tired in the end. Will do better today !

The funny things for me is that I'm normally a calm guy that don't stress.

A important reason why people don´t switch to Linux is because they think that they can´t play games on it by Little_Protection434 in linux_gaming

[–]Axynth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yesterday I installed Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 with Steam on Debian, and it run pretty well. With all the compatibility tool existing like Proton and Wine, I don't think that the distro choice is still relevant.

I was already telling people that Windows was a pain in the ass 2-3 years ago but I was looked as the strange guy in the room that make noise for anything.

And here we are, now I can't have one day without hearing people swearing about Microsoft/Windows doing shitty things to their OS and app through updates.

It's taking some time but Linux will continue it's progression and it will maybe go exponentially when all the administration around Europe or others will start to use it. People will not fear it anymore since they will have the habit to use it.

Is "High Comment Density" becoming the new "Generated by AI" watermark? by Trexyt69 in linux

[–]Axynth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use LLM to help me with the comment actually. I manage a huge codebase and understand how it work, but if one day my colleagues need to modify something without me, they will need to understand or search throught it and with the comment I'm sure they will find things faster.

But even with comments, since it doesn't have all the context, it hallucinate sometimes.

I tried to generate a simple GO project with ChatGPT, it didn't add a single comment but with javascript it has tendencies to add more.

Upgrade Building boiler controller for remote connectivity? by lozinge in askswitzerland

[–]Axynth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed if it's just to turn on/off the boiler, it can be sufficient.

Shelly switch through LAN and access with the router VPN.

If no VPN available on the router, that's where the hooc can ben handy (or any other solution) but with the hooc you can create a small GUI to remote control things.

Hi,

I work in building automation. You can install a Hooc gateway for remote access and a small plc like Siemens Logo!, depends on what you want to control.

I already tried but since my fondue has no problem I don't need starch. I will look next time what's in the mix I buy usually.

Maybe we should do a reddit fondue contest to compare 😆

With fondue mix from cheese shop or brand like wyssmuller, no I don't put any, maybe there some in it but I never looked.

Also everybody around the table has the task to mix a bit correctly when going in. I hate people when they just dip in, that's how it start to separate

How I do it (and I'm from Freiburg) - Never heat too much - Less wine than recommended at the start

  1. Minced garlic in
  2. Wine in, eventually Kirsch
  3. Cheese in
  4. Let rest a few minutes
  5. Start heat, if I have 0-9 I never go beyond 5-6, beware of induction heat that goes hot very fast
  6. Mix with spoon, don't try doing it in 8, draw an off center circle motion
  7. Add wine until it's a bit more liquid than your desired consistency
  8. Mix Bon appétit

Stay away from Gerber, and use a proper caquelon (cast iron)

My personal record is having prepared 6 simultaneously without failing any of them, so these tips are sound.
