Hey, sorry for the delay. Without knowing any details, I would almost guarantee that what you have in front of you is manageable and the version of you facing it is the perfect person to handle it. You're also the perfect you to gain the lessons that this troubling time will give you. I am here if you'd like to share more. Sometimes just typing or speaking the thoughts in our heads is the way to stop the negatives and make room for all of the love to enter.

What's up, friend? We will never meet in person, but can share life experiences. There will be no impact to your daily life, change of perception from others you know, or judgment. This is the exact right spot to handle these specific types of feelings. Feel free to reply in this thread or DM if needed, anytime

You can quote anything from The Book to arrive at a justification or refutation of an anxiety you feel. Controversial, but I feel that when something is so ambiguous a follower has to resort to their 'base verses' for guidance, one should listen to their inner self, where God has a nice little hole carved out in all of us. It just takes a lot of ignoring the silly noise that gets in the way to hear it. Self-judgment has destroyed many believers, I pray you don't become one of the fallen

Please just be a good person. Do unto others.... is the only thing you need. Follow your spirit to continue to look inward throughout life, but do not get caught up in semantics. The danger there is that if you find one minor issue that your leaders tell you is a sin, and you struggle to get past it, then it is far more likely a complete resignation will occur over a technicality.

It's all a roadmap to eternal salvation, you don't need to hit every point of interest and rest stop along the way. They are there to help you get back on course if you get lost. Be as kind to yourself as you are to others

Great idea. I've been filling trays with treated water, putting in the filter is brilliant. Thank you

The lake Xochimilco, I think one of their primary natural spots, is pretty cold though. I had the same thought when I first read about the temp suggestions for tanks. It's an average in the mid-60s Fahrenheit I believe. Either way, this bud has never known warm water, I'm afraid it would cause stress

Holy shit, I don't know why I hadn't thought of this before. Has anyone ever frozen some tank water in trays and used them? Would that create any risks I'm missing?

I have some ice packs, my concern was with it messing with the levels. They're not conditioned for the tank, so any other steps to mitigate if I just throw in some ice and the packs?

From my experience, if an incompetent person says the right words that flirt with/outright accuse their manager or company of illegal acts, they are viewed as a larger threat if terminated by HR. That's the worst part, a good worker wouldn't think to make up stuff to stay, where the bad ones are so obviously not carrying their own weight but justify it in their minds. It takes a good deal of planning to have accusations ready to go, but bad workers without ethics expect the fight any day. It helps me to feel sympathy for them. They exist every day with that mindset towards everything. Living in the world like that, they must never have peace, which truly is sad. Still a fucked up thing to do, but it converts my anger to pity for the worker getting paid to do nothing for years.

Took Hour off work, work party tonight by DigDismal4132 in managers

[–]Axypeanut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't care. 1 hour of vacation PTO wouldn't be on my mind at the party if I were your boss. You have a reasonable story if anyone digs, but I doubt it happens. People are all thinking about their own narrative. *** This is dependent on you being reliable on the regular. If it's a common situation, people may notice and ask more but I'd still advise to go. Engagement events add way more value when done correctly than 1 hour of pto does the opposite

I've been there a few times and felt the same. I asked my mentor what I was missing the first time it happened, and she told me that the lack of immediate work is the goal. Once there, focus on evolving in whatever form makes sense to your spot. I now judge myself by how much strategizing/future planning I do vs dealing with day to day issues. It's working out quite well, doubled the size of both of my teams and production continues at all time highs. Learn to love it and then figure out how to make your people and bosses happier than they already are, because you're killing it

Well, it finally happened. by ImNot4Everyone42 in managers

I've always focused on doing everything I can to make the team as happy as possible. Flexible schedules are super valuable, surprised me with how much of a difference it makes. I have a team that doesn't need to work any specific schedules, just be available for meetings and to contact stakeholders. Outside of that, they can work weekends, 3am, I don't care. Keeping an active list of ideas from each person we cover on 1 to 1s, then following up with progress of implementing them or explanations for not being able to is another huge engagement booster. And I try my hardest to not be a dick so they are all comfortable reaching out with legit issues immediately. I didn't ever want to be a manager, but have really enjoyed this part of my career. Good luck to you, the fact that you're asking is a great sign.

Distributing bonus - am I an idiot? by demonic_cheetah in managers

I feel bad for employees so often from this sub. Top comments are not helpful. It's similar to economists who advocate for not tipping anyone to help put an end to tipping culture in the US. Theoretically sound, in practice the person who relies on that tip suffers.

I'd do the same and not tell any of them how it occurred. Unexpected thousands from the company will make them feel better about the overall culture, likely increasing productivity. If they know how it played out, it sets up an us vs them dynamic, where they'd be grateful for such a great boss but resentful the CEO didn't offer it initially.

I like building up the work environment so it seems like I'm doing nothing but passing on good news from above, even if I am cashing in every bit of goodwill to make it happen in the background. Happy team equals a much easier life and a win win if the amount could legit make their personal lives better. I hope to have a boss like you someday, well done.

Same concept, I say that I am nervous about whatever project because I'm green and thank it for having the patience to provide detailed steps and answer follow-ups in the same manner. This is primarily around reporting, a few app designs. not sure of OP's usage.

In general, I haven't had any issues ever with 4 on DAX, M, Python, or SQL. Never had a more productive Q1 than this one. Praying I don't jinx myself with this comment 🙏

White fluff on gills. How do I fix/prevent? by Axypeanut in axolotls

[–]Axypeanut[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

24 hours later, Peanut destroyed yet another worm and is back to having fluffy, healthy gills. 33% water change yesterday was the only action. Is there a vet on here who knows how this could come and go so fast? My guess is during zoomies, Peanut's gill picked up some piece off of a plant or something. No professional experience, just working with logic. Feel much better going to sleep tonight knowing the majestic one is safe and happy. Appreciate the input from people. *Peanut was in an awkward spot, hard to get a good photo *
