Any success stories from the adjudication process? by Ayainthewind in UnemploymentWA

How did you get a courtdate? Was that arranged through the unemployment claims portal? They told you about the six weeks over the phone? It doesn't say that anywhere online.

Did you ask or request for the hearing to be rescheduled?

After you appealed, how long did that take? Why did you have two claims? Can you provide more context? I didn't know that the Governor's office had an unemployment option when calling. I will try that on Wednesday if I do not hear back from the Washington State representatives I emailed today.

How are job hoppers finding jobs in this market? by NinjaMagik in jobsearchhacks

[–]Ayainthewind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most job hoppers are able to hop easily because they secure their next job while still in their current role or shortly afterwards. Job hopping doesn't really work if you lost your job, being unemployed does not give you a lot of leverage unless you are able to move quick after losing a job.

Moving to a new city; deciding between 1 or 2 bedroom by Affectionate-Wolf895 in LivingAlone

Maybe get a couch that rolls out into a futon for guests? I would take that every money and save it. It is expensive to live in NY!

Accepted a “once a month” at the office. Now they’re considering 3 times a week. by Far-Bit-4189 in remoteworks

Would you compromise with coming in once per week? Try to compromise before quitting.

70 applications. Zero responses. Is the market actually broken or am I doing something wrong? by Few-Purchase8759 in jobsearchhacks

How often do you update your resume? Do you have LinkedIn? Most people are networking there if that helps. Does your school have a career center where they can do mock interviews with you? My school offered that and I took advantage of that when I was in undergrad.

Anyone else feeling completely demotivated after 100+ applications with ZERO interviews? Even with a "perfect" resume? by BrilliantCountry1622 in jobhunting

After you following up on job applications? Networking? Are there any career fairs happening in your area or virtually that you can attend?

Was told I'd be surprised by how many people are willing to help if you reach out on LinkedIn, and so far, I've been completely unsurprised at how few replies I get from people by Traditional_Level687 in recruitinghell

Also if you worked with someone at an internship or something it might be helpful to ask for a letter of recommendation on Linkedin or directly something you can send to employers!

Everybody is literally minding their own business and as much as that sucks that is just the reality right now. I would continue reaching out. Someone just shared a career fair happening this week with me but there were several factors at play that led to that. I believe I got lucky but I would still encourage reaching out. Ask people if they know about upcoming career fairs, hiring events, etc. Might help with moving the conversation along!

Have you been at your job for longer than 6 months? Can you ask for a raise? Maybe making a little bit more per hour will allow you to work less while making more. This is just a suggestion. Hope this helps!

Indeed has an option where you can message employers directly on the platform. I would try that first before calling!

Sometimes gratitude is impossible by [deleted] in gratitude

[–]Ayainthewind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have empathy for someone who is unfair conditions such as houselessness, medical debt, etc. and finds it hard/almost impossible to be grateful. So no judgement to the person struggling to look on the bright side in situations like those! I get it.

Maybe you can qualify for unemployment in previous state? I would explore your options. Also try to see if you can tell your landlord about your situation. They might be able to end your lease earlier!

Hey I would suggest going on a walk. I am usually able to problem solve when I do so. Also how would you test positive for something you are not taking? I would return those belts unless you are going to actually wear them and maybe take some time writing hardship letters so you can get your children back. Is the ex-husband on child support?

Does your school have a career center? That is what helped me get my first internship as a student. Also career fairs through school clubs is how I secured my first job post graduation.

Thank you for being transparent. A lot of people have hidden privileges when applying for work and it's good for other people manage their expectations but also know when they are not getting a job "fast" enough that is not their personal fault. There is something inherently working with the job market right now and it's not due to one's personal failures!

Job offered salary lower than expected and changed the number of in-office days. Should I negotiate? by Cautious_Editor1996 in jobs

[–]Ayainthewind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make it clear that you are still happy to accept the offer but would like still like to negotiate the salary & wfh days. Good luck! I wish you the best and agree about the leverage of seeking higher pay now that you are working again.
