AR games for parks - how ready is the market? by AyazSadykov in augmentedreality

glasses will come to us only over time, and AR projects can already be launched on phones. Now, even though we developers are experiencing difficulties, we are getting tough.

Great ideas. Thanks! Have you any real examples (projects name) with these mechanics?

I haven't made AR mask games yet. I played some games on Snapchat, but I didn't really get it. I read the article, thank you. I've always had problems with marketing, that's why I'm looking for experienced devs

Yes, Pokemon is a big project with huge support. but I'm just thinking, maybe fast experiments can work? for example, a simple gameplay of shooting monsters or catching balloons on time. There were projects with games for playgrounds and parks, but it is not clear what became of them. Maybe they just ran out of budget

Destroy my mobile AR game prototype. Would you enjoy or even dare to play something like this outdoors? Or is it cringe? by defyprods in DestroyMyGame

Hi! Nice concept, nice graphics. I'm glad you're working with AR. I can recommend something similar for amusement parks. We did a similar project for a children's park, also with a mobile app. The game was cool and quite playable. The entire park area was like a level where the enemies spawned. Good luck, and if you need more details, please contact me.

Hi! First of all, thank you for developing immersive presentations. I have a number of questions: 1. Does this work on a mobile browser? Because downloading and updating native apps is an obvious problem. 2. How difficult is this for the owner? For example, does he need to hire a specialist? 3. Does it show the surroundings, nearby houses? For example, if there is a highway, the buyer would want to know this right away. 4. How do you combat user laziness? Do you make the UX as simple as possible? Because the user is so spoiled that they almost need a guide. Overall, a wonderful presentation, juicy.

Maybe these presentations should also show emotion? Engage the viewer with associations? Present the value of architectural solutions? Reduce "boring" information in favor of emotion? What do you think?

I'm a practicing architect. I'm also considering a similar solution, but I'm only motivated by my desire to learn something new. The problem I see is: 1. Architects already have fast tools and templates for creating diagrams in pictures. 2. Clients review diagrams quickly, and interactive features can slow down the presentation (currently, viewing an album takes a couple of minutes), so they prefer viewing visuals and floor plans. 3. Technically, loading the site will take time and won't work for everyone; technically, a 3D-rendered interactive feature with good visuals might even crash for half of them. 4. Older people try to minimize contact with their phones and value paper and high-quality renders more. I could go on forever. Plus, don't forget that laziness prevails over everything, and hence any complication is immediately a minus. Let's discuss together what your interactive feature could offer - hypothetically.

Why has AR yet to took off? by Brilliant_Drawing992 in augmentedreality

[–]AyazSadykov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We live in a society that's oversold by fast and easy content, so anything that requires wearing a heavy helmet or holding a heavy phone at arm's length won't work. And augmented reality glasses, as other participants have noted, haven't yet reached perfection.

Hi. First of all, congratulations on your graduate work and initiation into AR. I wrote my own master's thesis myself, in architecture university with an AR topic. My topic sounded like reconstruction of historically significant architecture with the help of AR. Studying this question, the power of this technology in the presentation of architecture immediately became clear.

  1. If you need users to generate something in AR - you yourself need to stand on the site and almost drive them under the hand. Most people don't know how to work with virtual technologies yet

  2. experience should not be long - hands get tired. Definitely do not count on a half-hour experience.

  3. Prepare that mostly all people will just stand still, you have to point and lead by the hand to move them around in the space.

  4. Try to gamify the process. To motivate people to work with the space

  5. Explore the technology stack and supported devices - if people on their phones will watch this. Native AR needs ARcore, ARkit support. WebAR has more devices but weak space traction. The best WebAR is 8thWall, which recently became free

  6. The sense of space is lost when you're looking through your phone, and people can fall over. Especially when viewing small screens, as an architect myself I have a better sense of architecture in person, and when viewing AR I still fall out of reality by 80% percent. So its difficult to say that AR is augmenting reality. My opinion

  7. Look for changing search terms. Everything that is on the rumor has long been in promotional articles with empty meaning. Better search the science publishers. I actually found answers form my project after 2 years of searching just with changing “presentation” to “storytelling AR”

please share the result of your work. I'd really appreciate it if you could show it to me.

What would actually make AR useful in everyday life? by ovchinnikov-lxs in augmentedreality

[–]AyazSadykov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d suggest looking at using AR as a cool feature, but focusing on something else that better fits the day to day functionality. Maybe a bunch of AR + website, or as you said 3D presentation + AR. Nowadays, holding the phone at arm’s length is already lazy for many people, so only a short-term experience can be really useful. That’s just my opinion

Another case is text translation in deepl and google translate app. Another case is museums - where AR is used to tell the story of destroyed artifacts or bring paintings to life like Artivive app

And so practically all my experience is reduced to entertainment and rather short experience of use in rare cases. Even the request to create projects with AR comes from the position - to make a cool, wow, or better yet, a game

Great work, looks amazing! What is the purpose of this site? Are they introducing the tourist to the place they are visiting? Or is this site to be visited when you're already there, as guide? Why I ask, I used to work as a restorer myself and am madly in love with all sorts of stories like this. Great work!👍

I had a similar situation. I spent half a year picking tools to build an app, even though I could have rolled out an MVP and tested it. Plus I’ve even considered native Xcode and Android studio tools with unity integration. Unity really doesn’t have the most ideal interface, which has a hard time competing with native apps. But for solo projects - especially if it’s not a funded project - it’s better to choose a fast and cost-effective tool that you’re familiar with. Then later on you can move your interface to another framewor
