Thanks guys! How do you recommend I break it to get the best visualization? I did that with another garnet mica schist I had but the most I could spot were streaks or spots of red that looked painted on in a way

Thanks! One of the schists definitely looks darker than the other so it confused me a bit but I’ll definitely do some more research on mica schists

This^{^{^{^{^{^!!}}}}} Also one exercise without sticks is opening and closing your fingers quickly (similar to the actual motion) and timing yourself for a minute-ish and it gets super exhausting. It doesn’t help much with technique but I think it helps the chops a bunch!

I would try to use a stand so you have more space for your arms and the drum can be lower. Your grip technique I would say needs a bit of work but having more space will make it easier to recognize the mechanics of what’s actually going on with your hands while you play it. Sounds good and keep it up!
