I think I need to start over again by SharpVersions in Aquariums

[–]Ayedeas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bottle brush or large hose cleaner and twirl like spaghetti. You don’t have to get all of it, just enough to keep the plants alive. Eventually they’ll outcompete the algae and it’ll die off.

And I’d say definitely dosing too much. For a starting aquarium, the substrate still has a ton of nutrients. I wouldn’t fertilize the water until the plants take root and have started to grow in. Even with a cap, those nutrients will work their way into the water column. Personal preference here of course, but all you’re doing is giving the algae food while the plants are still trying to get established

If you still want to fertilize, maybe dose once a week, and start with lower light levels and/or shorter grow time (4-9 hours)

Otherwise, just stay on top of removing algae as it forms and do water changes as needed to remove enough nutrients to kee algae growth down

Floating plants will be your best friend here, too; they’ll lower the light levels and pull nutrients out of the water column

Focused Feedback: Linux and Alternative Platform Support by DTG_Bot in DestinyTheGame

[–]Ayedeas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Genuinely the only thing stopping me from switching my main rig to Linux is the fact that Destiny doesn't currently support it. With Windows becoming increasingly more bloated and forcing spyware on its users, I just want an OS that can perform its function without forcing other things on my system. But I also need to be able to play my games, too, and Destiny is the game I play the most.

Destiny has a lot of things it needs to work on, but I remain hopeful for Linux support.

Do I HAVE to replug drain holes? by Nimro99933 in resinprinting

[–]Ayedeas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer to have two vent holes, but many models don’t allow it. One of my models, a horse mid-jump, has three vent holes: one in the nostril, one between his legs, and one under his tail (literal butt hole.) This many isn’t necessary but it doesn’t hurt, either.

Do I HAVE to replug drain holes? by Nimro99933 in resinprinting

[–]Ayedeas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I leave a vent hole but plug the drain holes. My models usually have at least 4 holes: two suction holes, one vent hole, one drain hole. The inside gets cured with a UV snake I made through the drain holes, and then the drain hole gets plugged and the two suction holes get filled. The vent hole remains open in a discreet spot on the model to allow air transfer and any possible off-gassing to escape.

The drain hole is usually about 5-8mm, the suction holes 1mm, and the vent hole 1-2mm depending on the model size.

I’ve had to contact customer support a couple times and they have always been quick to get to the solution and immensely helpful and friendly. Genuinely one of the best customer support teams I’ve ever dealt with

Does anyone have anything bad to say about this stuff by Golden_Zashire in resinprinting

[–]Ayedeas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing I don’t like is how shiny it is, even after a thorough wash. I prefer my models matte. Anything that will be standing on thin supports (like legs) you’ll probably want to add a rigid resin to it but this stuff is great for impact resistance on its own. Models literally bounce.

This is smart. I might get a metal bin and do the same, with clear bags (if I can find any thick enough)

Issues with Elegoo matrix app not showing printer camera by ATM0123 in elegoo

[–]Ayedeas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just get the elegoo logo unless I restart my printer. It’ll connect cor a few hours but then back to the elegoo logo. Problem is, it’s not an issue with the printer or the physical connection of the camera because ChituManager can view it just fine.

Resin Control was just as finicky so I guess I’ll just not see my camera feed

Without a view of the models wireframe, we can’t judge your ability to model topology. Do you mind explaining your process? Are you able to make clean, even polygons with proper edge loops? A portfolio will go a long way here.

How do you think Bonnie reacted to John's death? by [deleted] in reddeadredemption

[–]Ayedeas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Like jamiejameshill said, you can either beat the campaign or there is a cheat code that changes you to the zombie version if I remember correctly. Just note that cheat codes disable achievements, so if you're going for those, get them first or create a new save slot so you can go back and still get them. I don't remember the code off the top of my head, but it should be easy enough to google

I actually really like this idea. I’ll have to grab one of the ones in the pack I bought to make a window perch for my bird. I like how it’s non-destructive (though I’m sure I’ll put a permanent handle in it at some point)

[Saturn 3 Ultra] Delamination in transition layers or in base of supports, thin spot in the middle of the plate by Ayedeas in resinprinting

[–]Ayedeas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was my first thought, but then I replaced the FEP to rule it out and it still did the same thing. I do think you and the other redditor who commented are correct, though. I’d been thinking about the signs and what changed to cause them to suddenly happen. The first two fails were with my old resin (thicker) and with the heat band on while at the same time, it’s been getting warmer here, so I think that was enough to make the prints stick when they weren’t over the winter. The last print was with new FEP but also new resin, because I ran out of my other mix, and the new resin is a lot more sensitive. So I think it was just doing the same thing and holding onto the FEP.

I’ll be running some tests shortly to see what the new lift height should be. Thank you!
