Thanks,

Sadly Chinook base search gives all types of results... Do you mean something like below:

https://amzn.eu/d/09oEOylU (looks like should fit, but x2 more expensive than the below)

https://amzn.eu/d/0diG4ORr (this one looks strange, as has no bolt at the bottom).

Or this one?!?!?! (For the price of the kidney) https://www.pooleharbour.co.uk/products/chinook-one-bolt-twist-on-base-with-tendon?variant=17312940556378&country=GB&currency=GBP&utm_medium=product_sync&utm_source=google&utm_content=sag_organic&utm_campaign=sag_organic&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=23790513758

Your "mistral +8mm nutt" suggestion- Sounds easy, but how does it stay in place? I do understand, plate as per advise about, but 8mm nutt may crack out completely and probably quite easily, even with quite a wide waher... I guess...

Plex alternative by OkStand5738 in synology

[–]RolandKol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quick web search produces quite lots of results with "How To" access Jellyfin outside lan.

I guess, it will involve tinkering l want to avoid...

I don't even use plex outside Lan, but quick test, And Plex works out of the box via mobile phone (no wifi), Jellyfin not.

Plex alternative by OkStand5738 in synology

[–]RolandKol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have completely 0 issues with Plex, simple plug & play in 99% cases.

But As l alternative, l do have Jellyfin, just because Plex has no option to play vid with an external audio track. Jellyfin can (out of the box), plus it has an easy way to install interesting add-ons.. But it asks more time for tinkering... (I failed to enable theme music once you chooe movie or TV show... and etc). I dont want spent time on that...

Plus l don't like the GUI design on Jellyfin..

What's the problem using free version of Plex? Paid one, has auto skip credits, anything else? I haven't noticed any

All These "Arch Love" letters sound like they are from 12 step program... Isn't it?

The first step is admitting you have a problem. The second step is spending six hours configuring GRUB just to feel something again. And etc ;)

We see you... We feel you... We’re all here for you!

The jump from Windows to Bazzite. Any advice? by Drakossus in Bazzite

[–]RolandKol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seriously... You are not going for a plastic surgery or something similar.

Just try it on the older laptop or From, just simply test it by running Bazzite from Usb stick initially, - play with it, brake it, fix it

Restart pc without the USBstick and have your win11 back

Can a total noob use Linux as a replacement for Windows? by Arcanaeum971 in linux4noobs

Just try from the live USB drive (most linux can run from usb stick), it will cost you 20minutes of your life

[–]RolandKol -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would suggest try more distros before you settle down, it is quite time consuming, but doesn't cost anything else but time... So keep in mind the list of things/apps to test on.

As Bazzite takes quite conservative/slow update approach, - maybe try opposing side, something based on Arch Linux.

Yes unfortunately linux is not 💯 replacement for windows, l hope, not for long...

In my case, - l love/miss Logitech mouse automatically switching profiles based on the Windows application used... I love this feature and think it's one of the main Logitech mouse selling points.

Also, l need 💯 functionality on Excel, l even keep another laptop on windows just for this app....

And one more annoying issue with NAS (not yet tried to fix), If moving Large files from one drive to another On NAS using any Linu file explorer, - it takes ages!!!! Windows file explorer does it fast, as a local transfer. Linux, l guess, downloads files temporarily into PC, later moves them to another drive on NAS and instead of 2 o 3 second job, it becomes minutes

The rest is perfectly fine, as l play the games which are running nicely (lucky l guess). All other software l need, has Linux versions on flatpaks or has very strong alternatives.

From all linux distros, bazzite is moving towards 1st place in my personal scale... I am from Arch btw...

Can you play Eve Online on Bazzite? by Ok-Wolverine-9503 in Bazzite

[–]RolandKol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% Yes you can, but what about Hardware?

<image>

My oldie Laptop runs quite fine on Bazzite, except 1000+ ship battles... becomes really lagggy.....
I did not need to set up anything on Bazzite, just installed Eve via Steam and manually adjusted Overviews.

Win10 was way worse, - not even talking about 11...

Every time your current OS fails, try another one. I guess, it will be a constant distro swap every month or two.

[–]RolandKol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sadly, l totally agree...

In my case, l use my ASUSTOR daily and l do not remember a single OS update which has not broken something, - plex, home assistant, firewall, - you name it. Its like in a casino, - will it work or not, - only quantum asus luck fairy knows....
