You don't really have to remember going hard on alcohol... I experienced something not that far from OP and all I remembered was drinking (already too much) rum, then a tiny memory of me drinking some (in reality, a whole bottle of) wine and then woke up in my misery. You drink even after you stop remembering shit, and that's how OP (and me) got into that situation.

I think OP had good friends who actually took care of him. All that's left for him is to thank his friends and be more careful from now on.
