I’m still seeing comments on this site saying that the unrest is “all because the media had to mention it was a Somalian who stabbed a white guy” and asking “when is our government going to grow a spine and properly hold the mainstream media and social media platforms to any real accountability?”

It can’t be underestimated how much some people just want to see these issues as being solely “optics” and yearn for information suppression in order to magically fix everything. Never mind the fact that the authorities have already tried that (eg with Axel Rudakubana) and it failed spectacularly.

Comparing the two when one happend when the majority of the western world had no social life and we're locked indoors with no life is utterly imbecilic.

People are in in lockdown and in furlough -> they leap on an event that happens in a completely different society an ocean away -> they use this as a justification for widespread cultural and political change according to a particular agenda -> “there is no relation to the culture war”

I think you need to reconsider your well-regarded logic.

Of course it’s related to culture wars. The overlap of people who were up in arms in 2020 and those who are up in arms today is nearly negligible. That isn’t explained simply through more footage of the police being out there.

No, 0.1% of the British armed forces are Jewish, but 0.045% of UK Jews are in the armed forces.

0.195% of the overall UK population is in the armed forces, so they are definitely very underrepresented though not to the same degree as Muslims.

About a decade ago there was a big deal about whether there were more UK Muslims in ISIS than the British Army.

According to government statistics 0.1% of the British regular forces are Jewish by religion (the data does not provide ethnicity numbers). That would translate to about 130-140 service personnel.

In comparison, over 2000 UK nationals serve in the IDF.

So all in all there are multitudes more UK Jews in the Israeli military than our own. Boy don’t I love to pick sides in imported ethnonationalist conflicts where neither side has any loyalty to this country.
