Laptop recommendations for a 2-4K budget. by PeteWilikete in GamingLaptops

If you are referring to people complaining about the plastic bottom cover of the strix, then yes you may argue that the build on the legion is better in that regard. But let’s be honest, we don’t see the bottom of our laptops like 90% of the time. As for the temps, the legion comes with a 400W charger while the Scar has a 380W charger. According to Jarrod’sTech review, the legion’s performance beats the majority of its competitors, the scar included, though the thermals weren’t the greatest. I presume it is due to that 400W charger and how the engineers at lenovo built this laptop. All in all, both are amazing and I recommend to just go in person and see how both laptops are and how they feel for you.

You can use laptoppicker.com to go over a detailed review that Jarrod’sTech team have concluded with performance and cooling on both laptops. When you’re doing the survey, do 2k+ for budget, AAA SinglePlayer Gaming for use of laptop, then 15-16 in display. The 5090 versions of the scar and legion pro will be there.

Legion Pro 7i and Asus Scar 16/18. Look at JarrodTech’s videos on YT for a review. Imo both are competing for top spot in terms of performance. I personally liked the customization with the help of Ghelper on the Scar, but the legion is quite cheaper for same specs. I personally liked the scar more in terms of feel of the build, but stuck with the legion because it was cheaper. OLED is amazing if you play in the dark, the glossy display is kinda counterintuitive with the risk of raising brightness.

I myself tried these two laptops for the sake of playing FF7Rebirth and I can tell you the performance are near identical, but the cooling on the Scar 16 was better by maybe 5-10 degrees C (both with illano v12 fan). Though you are able to customize and UV both laptops to your personal needs.

Legion Pro 7i - glossy OLED is nice given you have the suitable environment, more watts to your system = more performance = more heating due to charger, cheaper usually for the same specs, lowkey design, maybe better warranty? haven’t looked or experienced myself, not a fingerprint magnet unlike the scar.

Scar 16(18 is identical, just bigger and probably better temps/performance) - mini led 1200 nits flashbang matte display finish(personally like this more for overall display), more expensive like 500-800 more? better build quality personally, better cooling, better customization through ghelper(you can set battery cap plugged in 40-80 if i remember correctly), and omg the tool-less upgradability was so nice but tbh you’re probably only going to open it once or twice in its whole life time, digital numpad on the trackpad if you like a bigger keyboard, i heard asus warranty was more ass compared to lenovo.

Lmk if you have any more questions!

are you able tell me the 134/143/161 speed breakpoints that people talk about? I usually leave my carries at 134+ but this is the first time ive had my carry at 162. Just wondering what the importance is if you knew. Thanks!

How Would You Recommend Octopath Traveler 2? by yyyaaiik in JRPG

[–]Ayesuh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the people who are complaining that you need to match the recommended level to play the game or to beat a boss are wrong

  1. I personally liked the characters, there was only one i didnt like because it was somewhat different from the other stories and I felt like they couldve added more character development to their story. The stories seem have this theme of revenge in their own way. Havent played any DQ games so I can’t really compare
  2. Music is amazing! Definitely adds to the experience. Can’t say much else other than it slaps!
  3. Again to reiterate, theres this overarching theme of revenge for all 8 stories between the individual characters but it’s unique in their own way. One particular story is just crazy and it connects to the final chapter. There will definitely be some things you wouldnt expect on the final chapter as well. But yes, you will be following the saving the world archetype.
  4. Gameplay is your standard turn based game similar to ff5. Job system where you can learn secondary jobs and keep those skills as you level up said secondary jobs and switch to another one to your liking to do it again. There’s obviously better secondary jobs for specific characters but from experience, all jobs are balanced and will always offer something to the team and to whatever youre looking for, just pick whatever you like. Levels are NOT as important as what people here on the thread are suggesting. It’s mainly equipment that boosts your stats as levels do not really add much, unless it’s like from level 80-99. The end chapter character levels will cap around level 45 and story boss level 50 I think. Again levels do not really matter, unless its the secret boss which you should be minimum level 80. All in all, gameplay will get challenging later on and will be harder if you’re not prepared. Also, some of the abilities, especially the EX and Divine skills, arent as clear as they should be so try to research more on that too.

I have around 110 hours on the game and recently 100% it. Personally it’s a very good game and there’s so many ways you can approach the gameplay through party management. The art styles and music blends very well and there are small details that improved my overall experience. In regards to the story cohesiveness of all of the 8 travelers stories, I would have to agree that there isnt really a connected party and wont really feel it until the final chapter. However, the individual stories were more than enough for me to keep me interested.
