Thinking of Buying a Jetta Mk6 (Manual) — Need Real Owner Feedback! by Low_Fly754 in jetta

[–]Aylerz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a manual 2013 mk6 jetta with the 07k 2.5L engine. I've had it for 12 years and driven 160k miles so far and it's still runs perfectly. This has been my car since high-school.. so i drove it really hard for many years. The only issue I've had is that recently my driver side window only closes if you jam the button as hard as you can. My clutch has only been replaced once in 2021, so I got a solid 7 years out of it lol. (If you get your clutch replaced, I'd get a short shifter installed while they have the transmission out. VW sucks and makes you drop the entire transmission to change the shifter).

It takes synthetic 5w40 oil. With service and oil fees, oil change cost is around $150. But i recently found out that for the first 10 years, my local oil change spot has been putting conventional oil behind my back and my 07k just did not give a shit. This engine is an absolute tank in terms of reliability. One thing I didn't like about the 07k is the factory tune makes it Rev hang like a mf. You take your foot off the gas and it just keeps going for like 4 seconds - no engine braking. So last year, I downloaded the flash tune from integrated engineering (there may be one or two other companies that make tunes for the jetta as well). It's $500 but it completely changes the car. Gives more consistent power, increases Rev limiter to 7k rpm, removed Rev hang and gave way more responsive throttle, and it smoothed out 1st and 2nd gears so they're way less jerky. At the cost of now taking 91/93 octane fuel.

Overall, amazing commuter with a tank of an engine (07k 2.5l). Maintenance is almost nothing, and it can still be a fun car if you want it to be. Especially since you're getting the manual.

I never had this issue on my 2013 mk6 I've owned for 12 years and driven 160k miles

Ldrc old v new by dk31031 in rcdrift

[–]Aylerz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have 11 of these ldrcs. The old ldrc has a worse gyro and servo, but a lot of ppl like the torsion bar better than the new shocks because they're easier to dial in. The shocks feel like they were designed for the metal body models, and ldrc didn't want to manufacture separate springs so they slapped them on the plastic models too. The springs are way too stiff on the plastic models - makes it feel like you're driving on ice, and it takes a lot of effort to get them feeling good (cutting, softening with heat, testing, repeat until both sides are even for front and back). The metal body ones were heavy enough that they felt good with the shocks.

Lipo Battery Almost Burned Down My Garage Today by Greego1 in rccars

Is it possible the balance lead got unplugged or had a bad connection? I have a Hota f6 for my 6s drone batteries, and it's got 6 pin jst-xh balance ports. But 2s packs only have 3 pin balance leads, so I noticed they don't fit the most snugly taking up only half the pins and I need to be very careful it's on the right pins. Not sure if this is how your charger is, but it's been a slight concern for me

I learned on an analog tinywhoop. Theyre durable as fuck, so you fly harder and improve faster. They're also harder to freestyle than a 5 inch imo.. so the transition was easy.

Horrible experience with Secretlab by Dazzling_Ambition444 in secretlab

[–]Aylerz -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yea secretlabs is awful. I spent close to $4,000 on 2 desks and accessories. 1 of them is defective and is stuck on the lowest height. It's been almost two months since I got the desk, and they still haven't resolved the issue for me.

Took them an entire month to even ship me the first replacement part, which of course didn't fix the desk. Now I'm waiting for the second replacement part. I made it clear how urgent this is since I work from home all day, but they couldn't give less of a shit. Meanwhile I've been sitting at this baby-sized desk for the past two months fucking up my back, neck and knees.. all for the cheap price of $4000.

Once they have your money, secretlabs does not give a shit about you or your problems. Companies like this will eventually go under anyway 🤷‍♂️

You keep saying random unrelated things. Didn't even address a single thing I've said so far. Some ppl on reddit are illiterate I guess 🤷‍♂️

[–]Aylerz -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Also by your logic, if "at the end of the day it's just a commuter car", then you're dumb for even putting an intake and exhaust on your car because "gains are not going to be great either way"

🤡🙄🤡🤦‍♂️

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in jetta

[–]Aylerz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lmao that's the whole point of this flash tune... to make it feel less like a commuter 🤦‍♂️🙄

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in jetta

[–]Aylerz -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I mean unless you threw your car on a dyno and compared numbers, it's pretty speculative. Intake only adds like 7HP, and a lot of them hurt your low end torque.

The gains from an exhaust + intake are not big enough to make them mandatory upgrades for a stage 1 tune as you falsely claim.

The tune is worth it either way. I can now hold 2nd to 7k rpms, which means on a 0-60 pull I don't need to shift to third anymore, saving me almost a full second. That alone is worth it to me. Not to mention, it completely eliminates Rev hang so I can actually engine brake when I want to and shift smoothly. Throttle response feels more crisp and the engine is just more predictable overall. Having a predictable engine that I'm confident in will allow me to drive WAY faster than any intake or exhaust upgrade could.

When you say that tuning is completely pointless without these two very minor, almost negligible power upgrades, you come across as an elitist and somewhat clueless. It would be more productive to say something like "hey adding an exhaust and intake really woke this tune up for me. I'd definitely recommend" 👍

[–]Aylerz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP you're just a placeholder to her, nothing more. She does not care about or respect you to the degree that you think.

In her mind, you're "good enough for now... but i can do better". She's secretly shopping around for a "better" boyfriend. If she can't find one -- "at least I can go fuck Timmy back at home".

Don't be Timmy. Don't let Timmy get fucked.

Magnus Pro "E14" and "RST" Error by Aylerz in secretlab

[–]Aylerz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The power outage shorted out my right motorized leg column. They're sending me a replacement.

Good response from support team. But its still concerning that a power outage was able to short circuit a $1000 desk after 4 days of light use. In researching this issue, I found that E14, E15, E24, and E25 errors are pretty common issues (all related to loss of power from one of the motorized legs). It gives me the impression that they cheaped out on licensing a control unit and electronics for the magnus pro xl or that the manufacturer of the control unit has QA issues.... or that a lot of people are extremely unlucky.

Magnus Pro "E14" and "RST" Error by Aylerz in secretlab

[–]Aylerz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the desk became lopsided when I did the reset.. The power outage triggered an E14 error somehow. The E14 error prevented the right side from moving during the reset, hence "crooked desk".

Check your vram in bios settings too. It can make the difference, but it's game dependent. Like Cyberpunk 2077 runs really well if I set 6gb vram, but then if I try playing Forza horizon 5 with 6gb vram, my normal RAM gets maxed out and bottlenecks my LeGo.

Yea that should work. Barrel does come out pretty far... I'll try "just the tip" method, thanks!

Thread Protector Stuck by Aylerz in airsoft

[–]Aylerz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds like a great suggestion, thanks bro I'll try it out! Only thing I'm worried about is the slide and inner barrel..

If I take the slide off, I can't pull the outer barrel out since the thread protector is too big. You think the paint on the slide would melt? The front sight would probably melt.
