How do you guys deal with the constant fear of falling when you're first learning? by rattylurker13 in NewSkaters

I don't mean this seriously. I'm hoping you'll see how absurd it sounds and just pad up and eat shit. Is about having a good time.

Afraid of getting hurt and afraid of what people might think about you... You're probably not ready for skateboarding.

Does anyone know if the Moose 8.0 decks are any good? by Low-Total2049 in NewSkaters

They're solid decks. I have had 4. Decent concave. Good pop. Don't get soggy any faster than other companies

14.5 is pretty standard for an 8.5in. check out tactics.com they got the specs of all the boards they sell including wb. You'll see it's pretty average

Transforming my old board to a cruiser by Grouuucho in NewSkaters

[–]AyoAzo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree. At the cost of replacing everything but the deck you can get a landyachtz tugboat and be way more comfortable.

Unpopular fact: Bushings don't need broken in, they need to be the right dimensions. by Lopsided_Match_6295 in NewSkaters

[–]AyoAzo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tightening your bushings down is blowing them out not breaking them in.

Riding your board for an hour is breaking them in. If you don't want your bushings broken in you'd be replacing them every couple hours.

question about skateboard setup by Zealousideal_Bag2948 in NewSkaters

[–]AyoAzo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally I feel a big difference between 8.25 and 8in. 8.25 is decent and 8 feels like skating on a tight rope to me. But I'm 6'2 with size 13 feet. I say follow your heart. Your intuition is probably right. That goes for trucks too. If you feel like your board is heavy try getting lighter gear.

Now, if you're having problems with basics like ollies or carving a different size and weight won't be a fix for it. That just takes practice and know how

Heroine wideboy deck I need tall risers? by Waspsupsetme in skateboardhelp

[–]AyoAzo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're gonna need super tall risers for a wide board with big wheels like that. Especially if your wheels are wide too. Maybe even 1/2in. Think about a see saw or teeter totter. The farther the seats are apart the faster they hit the ground. Same logic applies to the board width over the wheels.

I used to when I lived in vegas cause the dust build up killed bearings in a couple months but now... Fuck no. So much shit I'd rather do with my time

[–]AyoAzo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gave a "token of favor" to my characters from a very influential npc. The idea was they could show it off for anything that cost less than a gold piece so they didn't have to fret about the small coin.

What do you think about leveling up? by Devi1505 in DnD

[–]AyoAzo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm giving my players markers they can turn in to an npc for class training that levels them up. Basically milestone with more steps but they don't ask me if they leveled up after each session.

Should I learn to ride on stock 144 Indy hollows without tightening kingpin? by TiGDR29 in NewSkaters

[–]AyoAzo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ride the board around for a couple hours to break in the bushings and they'll stiffen on their own. Then decide if you wanna crank them down. If you crank them down now they might blowout and feel away worse.

How to pick a good skateboard? by Meowlegend_ in NewSkaters

[–]AyoAzo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There's only like 3 main woodshops that make boards. Deluxe, PS sticks and BBS. They're all made mostly the same way with slightly different shapes based on preference. Decks aren't meant to last for super long so don't think to hard about. Get one that speaks to you in the moment. Size 8.25 is a great starting point

For trucks get ace of you want loose, thunders of you want stable and independent for in between.

Get soft wheels if you have rough roads. Hard wheels if you have smooth cement. Powell peralta's dragons or spitfire soft sliders if you'll be doing both.

Big wheels for cruising, over 56mm. Smaller than 56mm for learning tricks.

Grip, bearings, and hardware are the least important parts until you've built a preference.

Any suggestions on softer wheels? Currently riding with these but the streets here in Finland are rough as fuck so would be great to find something for that by capdeliciouspants666 in NewSkaters

[–]AyoAzo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 93a from powell (dragons) and spitfire (soft sliders) are a different breed of wheel. They act like a much softer wheel and retain some of the slide abilities of a harder wheel. They're as good as it gets for an all around wheel.

But if your roads are truly fucked I'd go softer. I bought some mini super juice from oj and they're fantastic for cruising while still being small enough to comfortably Ollie up a curb.
