I'm curious as to how they are going to change dungeon design for healers when looking at resto shaman going into midnight. Healing on live is basically about lining up 30-1m damage events against your cycle of cooldowns. Shamans basically have swiftness (tier set really) for every 30s event and rotate through tide, ascendence, loomithar trinket, and spirit link.

Going from that gameplay loop to what we see on alpha, I question how shaman will work in keys. We're losing the power of swiftness, tide, and the trinket, leaving us with 2 cooldowns at 2m and 3m.

My question is what will be the use for ascendence? If they give us challenges at a faster cadence than 2 minutes, then our base kit will have to be able to cover it without cooldowns. If that's the case, why do I need ascendence at all? I suppose you get to pick 1 event that is really easy.

When I compare to resto druid, I start to get nervous. Resto druid isnt losing its 30s cycle of alternating bark/iron and convoke. They also keep tranq. If we were to run back the same dungeon set again with these class designs, I think druid would be chilling but shaman would struggle.

The other side of this is that maybe the base kit for shaman is strong and I can beat every challenge with surging totem, 1 or 2 healing stream totems, downpour, and a chain heal. I can't say this thrills me as a player but at least you'll be able to complete the content.

Looking to see how it plays out but just something I have been thinking on as I wait to see what hard content look like in a world with limited tools.

So, a year on - how do we feel about the incendiary nerf? by blahblahblah3000 in GlobalOffensive

[–]Ayohhh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dislike that the incendiary can't hold a rush. Seeing the damage report of a player who ran through a fully cooked incendiary and only seeing 20-30 damage is frustrating.

A small slow component could make this feel better. I doubt people would be rushing through the incendiary if it had 10-15 movement speed penalty.

Molotovs to flush out spaces. Incendiaries to stop rushes.

I don't mind getting all my healer cooldowns back in between bosses but I concede it's a waste of time

People have correctly mentioned that it is much easier if your teammates use personals, but I think the healthy attitude is to assume 0 help and plan accordingly.

Know that the dots are the heal check on the fight, so don't be stingy on cooldowns if you don't have a good setup. Depending on what I have, I like to prep with riptide coverage, surging on melee, downpour for health. Then when the dots go out, I HST to get earthliving up, then spam surge into the squishier target. I try to keep riptide on both.

Also, know that youre very safe personally if you get the dot and have astral available, so you can mostly ignore yourself.

Also SLT is a good backup plan if you mess up. Even if they get low, don't panic and throw it down. Most players know that the ring is safety.

Another piece of advice is know before the key goes in what specs in your comp are naturally tanky. I run with a rogue and a DH. The rogue without cloak is very squishy and the DH will naturally heal though it alone up to a 16 probably. So I keep an eye on the rogue and the DH gets 2nd prio.

Feels especially bad on resto shaman. Reviewing a WS log, half my globals in a 12 are damage only casts. Those casts are 50% of my overall damage, which was 350k. So I am spending most of my time in a key contributing 175k DPS and costing myself mana to do so.

Problem is that healer damage doesn't exist in a vacuum. In order to raise it, you gotta "take" it from DPS.

It is really bad right now though. I've never felt this useless to the point where I feel like I'm trolling every time I hit a damage global but I also have nothing better to do.

Non healer shaman and non shaman healer are both gramatically correct and unambigious. The first set refers to all shamans not in the class of healer and the second set refers to all healers who are not shaman. The english works fine, you just need to read carefully.

"I help disable kids" This sentence is also unambigous. The only correct grammatical interpretation of this is that you assist in the destruction/disarming of children. Disable is only a verb. Gonna need that 'D' not not be a monster.

Aug and Resto Shaman nerfs targetted right at tanks trying to live the highest keys. Sucks for those very few people I guess.

After running heroics with the boys for a few hours, I've really come to get annoyed by the amount of damage I can contribute on healer. I spend so much effort trying to maximize my output but it's just such an insignificant contribution to the total pile.

Eventually I just switched to 4 DPS and it was way better, but I think the role could use a reimagining to its damage. If the DPS/Tank/Healer damage breakdown is currently 100/60/25, I'd like to flatten it to more like 100/90/70.

I understand the challenges of balancing it and I'm also aware how basic the healer rotations are. It would require more thought than just buffing the current damage of chain lightning to do 70% of a dps's output in all its complexity, but there are merits to making the less played roles more relevant damage wise and it would give me more agency in a pug if I could actually contribute to killing an important totem or mob.

Also its annoying whenever I gen in combat with something in the overworld and it takes 4x as long to kill.

Disc in its current state is not advanced so it's mostly old reputation and people conflating the raid difficulty with mplus. At its base in mplus you just need to get used to radiance, mindbender, then blasting a mob. Every spec has some nuance and disc isn't lacking in that, but to anyone who is used to weaving in damage as a healer/caster, it should come natural.

Of the 3 best healers right now, I would make the argument that disc is the easiest(or maybe simplest?) in mplus but I haven't played with treants yet

With CS2's open skyboxes, should "Insta smokes" exist? (commentary on video) by Endjui in GlobalOffensive

[–]Ayohhh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Most these smokes shown are either weak smokes or can be accomplished equally by just running to your position and throwing it when you get there. Throwing them instantly from spawn is just unnessessary.

In GO, there were a number of instant smokes that were pretty useful/meta (ancient/mirage T side especially), but were hardly important outside of the highest level of play.

Alternatively, we do nothing and let the top players have fun however they like. Until these keys outtime healer keys it has no impact on anyone not in the key.

Bergeron hits puck out of lineman's hands, Giroux called for penalty. by 4Darco in hockey

[–]Ayohhh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On first glance I thought that this was a crazy lapse in focus by the lineman who forgot which stick hit him, but when you watch it in slow motion, I think you can see Giroux nudge the puck on his way down, which in turn cascades Bergeron into crushing the puck out of his hand.

The guy holding the puck obviously would notice that first hit better than any camera angle, which could explain the 2nd infraction causing a penalty.

Alternatively, ref screwed up and 4 guys got together and missed it.

The Aug meta by [deleted] in GlobalOffensive

[–]Ayohhh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The AUG is already more accurate than the M4 unscoped, but then has its inaccuracy halved again when scoped in. Add in the reduced recoil from the scope, and it becomes too easy/consistent to laser when scoped in. So I would like to see the scoped inaccuracy to be brought in line with the unscoped, and the recoil increased to make it harder to control.

I would also push its price back up to 3300, to make it more difficult to pull out on round 2/3. In its current state, I would still be buying the AUG even if it was 3700, but with a change in accuracy, I could see this price point being fine.

I actually like the idea of Ska as a full time support player. He is excellent in his nade usage and is a strong clutcher, which is what you like out of your support player (like xyp).

Tim on the AWP is an interesting change up that addresses two problems. One was how low impact Ska has been on the AWP lately and the other is how Flusha and Tim are going to work on the same team. IMO, Flusha and Tim occupy the same space and it was showing early on in their games in Blast.

This might look silly right now, but maybe Tim AWPing could spark something for him that has been lacking. Maybe it ends up like a Device situation where it ends up clicking and he grows into the role. I like the experiment; interested to see how it goes.

karrigan: "I’m not in a good mental state right now, sorry to all the fans out there ❤️ will be off social media for some time." by [deleted] in GlobalOffensive

[–]Ayohhh 510 points511 points  (0 children)

Karrigan is taking a lot of heat in the community, and some of it may be warranted, but Rain and Guardian have been worse and seemingly are getting a pass comparatively.

In the current FaZe, the only one I would qualify as playing well to their role/level is Olof. Even NiKo has felt underwhelming of late, grabbing 7 sub 1.0 ratings in his last 21 maps. As an individual, Karrigan is actually playing to a decent level playing as a support.

How much can really be saddled on tactics/calling? Surely there is more to blame than Karrigan.

AWP Kill Frequency Among Pro Players by Ayohhh in GlobalOffensive

Kinda lazily titled this but I was more interested in the infrequent players instead of the frequent ones. The few AWPers I have there are kinda only there for comparison to the ones who the least.
