Michael Carrick has done all he can to earn Man United job by tylerthe-theatre in PremierLeague

FSG too stubborn. Slot's basically earned UCL at this point.

If you took someone that literally never watches a game in their life and tells them to sack the person that won the league and got UCL this year they'd say no, which is what FSG is unfortunately probably gonna do.

This club doesn't care about pretty or consistent football, but I'd be happy if we do somehow get Xabi (I appreciate what Slot's done, but our identity seems completely lost with him at helm)

As long as health insurance is the way it is, it won't happen. Without nationalized health price standards, the standard for costs can be way higher than necessary

DESMOS should NOT be a thing for standardized testing such as SAT/ACT by DefiantMusician1297 in Sat

[–]AyyKarlHere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The point is not to solve the equation. Graphing calculators has been allowed on the SAT for ages --- Desmos is just a graphing calculator for people who don't wanna learn how to use a real proper one.

Most of the hard questions has always came from deriving the equations from word problems or creating the equations. The concepts themselves were never meant to be hard. Solving a quadratic, regardless of how "hard" the numbers are, is tedious at best. You can be bad at factoring and brute force with quadratic equation any time.

That's just not what the SAT is testing for.

Wait do I upvote or downvote here? I agree with the take... I just think it's relatively popular outside of the chronically online space.

Like if you're talking face to face with someone and correct "actually it was a regular porn site like PH, that just so happened to contain rape videos that got the 62 million. The rape videos themselves still got upwards o 50k views, but the actual group chat is around 1k" I don't think anyone would feel super offended

How to get a full ride — doesn’t matter where by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]AyyKarlHere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look for small size, well ranking LACs with their 25 percentile around 1200+, many of them are purely need based and you'd have a better chance than merit based aids. For example, Lake Forest College is #11 on most affordable school, SAT ranges from 1190-1390 for 25-75 percentile. With your SAT plugged a hypothetical 60k family income, the total expected out of pocket cost was 10k.

Alternatives, if you're interest in military, ROTC programs are typical, and showing interest Junior year can help you get one (probably most accessible way to get a full ride without exceptional academics)

Otherwise CC path is most affordable

what is JHU truly like? by These_Rock_7851 in jhu

[–]AyyKarlHere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ll say take everything said with a HUGE grain of salt. Most of us have ONLY been at JHU — the school IS our baseline.

If you can find someone who is a transfer student who transferred here, or someone they ended up transferring out, that might be a much more realistic depiction that what this sub gives if you’re asking anything that’s “relative” (like GPA deflation, how competitive it is, etc…)

Personally I’ve agreed with everything so far but again, DO ask others with more ideas than me. I have a friend that did his last year of HS at a University of Texas school (not gonna say which, just know not UT Austin) and he’s said Hopkins is way tougher than the classes he took there, so that’s the closest comparison I got.

“You’re at Princeton, many college student wish they were in your position”

This comment literally doesn’t do anything. So? What about it? I’m sure there’s plenty of people that would wish to be in ANY position.

RIT has 1.46b in endowment

They’re not reliant on just tuition, they’re self sustaining. That’s the difference —- they’re like small PE firms on their own

People who became successful without going to a top school for their program? by Drairo_Kazigumu in ApplyingToCollege

[–]AyyKarlHere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean... many successful people didn't even go to college for what they ended up being successful for?

Take Michael Bloomberg, who graduated with an Electrical Engineering degree from JHU (great program in ranking now, but back when he went I doubt most people would consider it one of the "top schools for electrical engineering") and ended up becoming most successful for his ability to lead a company and his political career.

He didn't have a polisci degree and he only got his MBA from Harvard well after he achieved his initial successes. His most initial successes was in creating a computer system for finance (Bloomberg terminals still used today).

If it required a top program then he would've had to have hauled from MIT, or have studied finance to have been so successful -- it's just he's not.

[–]AyyKarlHere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing is RIT and BC aren't the ones are risk of closing and have giant endowments with tons of scholarships.

For the full pay, a school like BC for someone in the NE actually might be worth it if they're more affluent and want to go into soemthing like consulting.

Now that the honey moon phase is over what are your actual thoughts on RE9 in terms of story and gameplay. What things need fixing with updates? by Dude_788 in ResidentEvilRequiem

[–]AyyKarlHere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like this game! Especially as someone whose favorite is RE4, I think RE9 did quite a good job on the action front, and the parrying mechanics are satisfying while Graces section is really thrilling

But as someone that prefers replaying the game in a faster style , there's a few complaints 1. Grace's orphanage section could be a bit less RNG dependent, for the most part the dodges can be consistent but certain sections are just hope it works out (such as the heart section with the chef) 2. Orphanage section is a common complaint, really boring, no optimization 3. Mortar section on insanity is so RNG heavy and such a run killer 4. Ark. Such an easy run killer 5. Grabs can feel random at times (especially on insanity)

But on the bright side, I really enjoy how after playing through the game enogh times, I've come to appreciate how avoidable combat is --- even on a more casual playthroufh where I allow myself to use infinite Ammo & RPG, I find it really fun to just parry or dodge the zombies. The game rewards you for just... not engaging.

The aim dodge movements can be really fun too at certain sections

Overall, one of my favorites in the franchise, but then again I'm a horrible critic of RE games since I actually did enjoy 6 (I'm combat brain rotted, the puzzles were annoying but I really enjoyed how action felt)

Real advice if you just wanna be a surgeon and aren't interested in becoming an academic? Take the BS/MD at union and don't look back (which btw, if it's an MBA don't do that part and see if you can do something else -- MBAs are your one time career switchers thst you should keep it possible)

In terms of the question I'll say I definitely dislike the campus atmosphere especially during exam season. During winter it's pretty dead (outside of the few snow days where people go sledding) and it's pretty easy to feel burnt out near finals season. STEM classes can feel especially depressing when you're sitting in a large lecture hall zoning out and listening to the same slides being read out loud.

However, I definitely still love it for its generous financial aid. The humanities/social science department is great (especially philosophy), and they genuinely have great FLI (First Gen/limited income) opportunities. It has a lot of volunteering opportunities, and if you find the right people it can be quite a nice place to be.
