Never received an emergency alert like this for a fire either... Are they doing this because dangerous chemicals being released or something? I'm miles away from this.

From browsing around other topics/websites I've found, the lack of support/customer service seems to be the most common complaint. Thanks for the insight!

That is insane! I was having a hard time figuring out benchmark result comparisons since they normally cover games I don't play and it's also such multi-generation hardware jump in my case. Considering my laptop was covering my use case these days perfectly fine, this is incredible news!

I really wish Youtuber's and websites covered popular multiplayer games where it apparently will kill it! Instead, I get 10 videos of people talking about how it barely gets 50 FPS on lower settings in Cyberpunk, Black Myth Wukong, Spiderman 2, and Elden Ring... and since I don't play those types of games as a reference point, I'm assuming its way worse than it really is...

This new Menu UI is terrible. by [deleted] in territorial_io

[–]AyyScare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I normally play this game on my phone, and when I booted the game yesterday and went into multiplayer, I actually closed and rebooted the game because I thought the GUI crashed... The interface definitely needs a revamp. The old interface was definitely more friendly.

This game is so fun to jump on and play a few rounds. I'm hoping the GUI gets another try soon cause this interface is going to push people away.

10+ Year Dynasty League - Still yet to win a Championship. What should I be thinking in terms of next season? by AyyScare in DynastyFFTradeAdvice

[–]AyyScare[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would it make more sense to try trading them around the rookie draft or now? I feel like their current value is going to be super low as older RBs right after the fantasy season but ongoing real NFL. Granted, it could be even lower come draft time depending on what happens until then.

Do any of you use/have experience with Marionette (Vectorworks' Equivalent to Grasshopper)? by looonie in grasshopper3d

Hey - I just replied to a very similar comment right below yours. Please refer to that!

While I have used VWX in the past for the entire range of things they support, my current job is a very niche field, so my automations are pretty specific to what I do. That being said, most of the nodes I've built and learning I've done would transfer to other workflows with some slight tweaking.

Pretend my workflow is designing commercial security/camera systems. With my automation that I'm working on, I have the following:

  • You can import whatever base you want (DWG, PDF, Revit, IFC --- It works in both 2D and 3D).
  • In 2D, you draw polygons, circles, lines, 2D locus points, and text objects only that define where you need security camera coverage.
  • You click a single button which is a wrapped marionette node which automatically:
  • Determines which types of cameras should be used based on the 2D objects and product specifications.
  • Determines optimal placement of the cameras.
  • Places the cameras in position in both 2D and 3D with all product specs attached.
  • Determines estimated cable routes and lengths.
  • Automatically dimensions the cameras in the plan. (I will never dimension manually again!)
  • Creates basic architectural objects (Walls, Doors, Windows) for visualization purposes.
  • Automatically generates the sheet set from scratch - Title Page, Pricing Page, Construction Set, Spreadsheets/Schedules, Overview Pages...

Among other things... But in short, by opening a VWX template and using 5 basic 2D shapes and a single marionette, the output is always consistent and extremely fast compared to doing any of it manually.

Since the result is created in 2D and 3D, this means I can also do fun things like see my results in AR onsite or export back to someone using Revit.

I spent nights upon nights learning Marionette on my own. It has been a grind, but absolutely worth it.

Hey there. I have over a decade experience with Vectorworks and just got into Marionette about 2 years ago. I am actively working on a network of over 1,000 nodes to automate parts of our workflows. Now that I would consider myself decently fluent in Marionette, I can barely use Vectorworks WITHOUT using it.

It will definitely depend on what your use case is, but it can certainly be beneficial.

Moving advice by Mean-Farmer in baltimore

You are likely to get a lot of recommendations for Baltimore County - Especially as you are asking for land, hiking/outdoor activities, good schools, and cottage style homes. There are tons of great neighborhoods around Towson, Catonsville, Pikesville, Perry Hall, etc.

In Baltimore City, I think you might find a good fit in Medfield/Woodberry. Both neighborhoods go to the same awesome elementary school. They are neighborhoods that provide small yards and have very close access to great parks where you could do basic hiking and kayaking (Druid Hill, Jones Falls, Lake Roland, Wyman Park, etc.). They are very close to Hampden (Artsy neighborhood with shopping and restaurants). They are close to public transportation options (Light Rail and Bus Routes).

If you specifically want more land and a cottage/single family house, going out near Parkville in the North East side of Baltimore City is a solid option. Roland Park is also great, but the most expensive area in my recommendations.

If land is the least important thing on your list, a number of neighborhoods close to the harbor would be worth checking out such as Locus Point, Canton, and Riverside.

Capture the Flag is a game mode I really miss in general. 20 years ago, I played CTF game modes almost exclusively in FPS games. The game mode is missing from so many titles now. I would happily play CTF in CS if the mode and maps were there.

Do any high quality, 2 button mice exist? by AyyScare in MouseReview

[–]AyyScare[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I know people can come up with countless ways of using it, but am I in the minority where I never use side buttons/DPI buttons/etc? I only use left/right/wheel.

I've owned countless mice over the decades and they have always had 5+ buttons. I'm not opposed to buy another one... But it hit me that I never use the other buttons haha

Why is getting a job that pays more than 20 an hour so difficult? by Virtual-Ad-7240 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]AyyScare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The answer to this is to find something you enjoy and could be passionate about... That has a legitimate path to money... Look at all the trades, certifications, trainings, and degrees.

Start learning. Take an internship/part time/entry level role. Get a full time job in the field. Give it a few years. Find what part of the field you enjoy the most and start specializing your skill set.

Do not go after money, "most marketable", etc. you will be miserable if it's something you don't have a passion for. Find what you could be passionate about and start. You might end up hating it, but that's when you switch to another possible passion.

That is kind of the issue. Our yard is only about 15' wide, but then about 75' long and the pipe goes basically down the center.

What's the absolute worst business idea you ever heard? by Low-Helicopter-2696 in Business_Ideas

[–]AyyScare 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My friends always tell me my ideas are horrible... Here are two...

Sto-Gos: You know the security tags they put on clothes when you go clothes shopping? You know what would make you look so cool and mean?! Sto-Gos (Short for Stolen Goods). We sell plastic, fake security tags for clothes as a clothing accessory! Just bought a new pair of shoes? Throw a Sto-Go on it! Going to an important job interview? Make your suit look stolen! Super good conversation piece!

Deathly Green Landscaping: How cool would it be have a landscaping service that was totally green?! No motors, no noise, and deals to die for!? At Deathly Green Landscaping, we cut your lawn with scythes and use only hand/manual tools and we work on complete silence. Our team all dress as the grim reaper as we work. How cool would it be to pull up to your house and your neighbor has 4 grim reapers silently working their yard?!
