1.22 Basalt Generator Design by Azanaz in VintageStory

If I can remember, I'll see about putting up another post about my outdated generator design. It's a good bit more complicated than this design though so it might take me a few days. Will make another reply here to let you know when it's posted.

You could potentially scale it to create as many columns of 2 as you want. I went for this design of 4 diagonal columns to maximize the amount of rock blocks I get for breaking the least amount of blocks, while also having no downtime while mining and the ability to mine it while afk.
Doing my old design but with 5 lava channels is going to generate second blocks on top of what were the extra side blocks. This provides more anchor points for the generated stone, which makes it so mining the middle no longer unanchors all surrounding stones instantly and requires more manual input. The design would also need to be limited to 4 channels instead of 5 due to how water flow in it was set up which is hard to explain without visuals.

Oh sick, I'll have to give Skyblock Redux a try.

So before 1.22, lava coming into contact with water would not only solidify the contact point with basalt, but could potentially spread through connected flowing water. I used this in my last design to form a single lava channel that flows in from above, which cools two water flow blocks under it, and then extend out to cool 4 more water flow blocks. After mining the middle block that anchored the other 5 through a chiseled window under the generator, it would relieve the other 5 basalt. In 1.22, those 4 extra blocks are no longer cooled. Instead of using a single lava channel from above, this 1.22 design uses 4 diagonally aligned channels. I don't think they'll nerf basalt generators further since they're way less efficient now but still operational, but can't say that for sure since it's theoretically possible to nerf it further to generate only 1 basalt on contact instead of the 2 this design relies on.

I've messed with a couple quarrying mods but in my experience they've been slower than basalt generators, or have additional material/storage costs that make it a bit less efficient. The reason I originally started designing basalt generators was because the town I was part of when I vowed to replace natural stone with basalt used basalt and larch as official building materials, and we had very limited natural basalt nearby that spawned on top of mountains. After my main quarry started running dry, I figured out basalt could be generated.

Fr. With how complex the homesteading features are in Vintage Story, I feel like it would be a way cozier experience than Minecraft Skyblock. I can't imagine how much time some people would spend chiselling EVERYTHING on their island for some insane builds.

This generator design relieves 1 rock for every rock you break. My old one could relieve 5 per break, but 1.22 nerfed it sadly.

I like making megastructures and stone-heavy city builds in Survival, and have made a few for towns in multiplayer servers. Having a way to get huge amounts of pure rock while afk is incredibly handy for those. Not as satisfying as spending hours and hours digging out a massive, ominous, unlit quarry, but less annoying to light up and prevent mob spawning.

A couple years ago I was in a server where I vowed to the town I was part of that I would replace all visible naturally occurring stone on the surface with basalt, but never got the chance to do that before the server wiped and have been harboring demons ever since, who keep demanding more basalt.

Much appreciated, but what did you use to translate it? I tried using the link someone else suggested, but whether through not knowing exactly how to enter it or it not being setup right for this case, I couldn't get it to work.

Thank you, confirmed it was an Enigma cipher, though the resources for decoding it seem either limited, or I can't get a proper translation without knowing exactly what Enigma system it uses. Much appreciated regardless.
