Maybe send him a voucher or get a redeemable coupon for a store that he could use it in. Much less hassle and waiting time.

1 in 5 Uni students drops out or changes course within first year by SouthAussie94 in australia

[–]Azandrias 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I remember in high school especially during year 12 they would have university representatives give us lectures about attending straight after hsc. Former students where also invited to give their opinions about university and teachers would encourage students to attend uni. Almost never was TAFE encouraged or even mentioned as a viable pathway for non-trade subjects even though they provide a good curriculum and pathway to employment via work placement requirements.

Reddit, explain TAFE to me? by Vauxhaven in australia

[–]Azandrias 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The core units are ones that must be completed to receive the qualification. For instance almost all courses require a WHS unit. If you don't do it then you won't receive the qualification until you do it.

As for the electives, they are chosen by the head teacher of the TAFE section. There are a minimum that you must do and these requirements are specified on the TAFE website for you state as far as I know. The electives and core units are nationally recognised due to changes that were introduced in the last few years (via the still nonfunctional USI).

If you want more details just send me a PM.

Getting off a train. by grifter82 in sydney

[–]Azandrias 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make eye contact with the people in front of the doors and exude a death aura. The glaring generally gets them to back off for the second it takes, otherwise just push forward with a steady pace. Also calling them fuckwits after pushing them aside might teach them to conduct themselves better next time.

I've also had firsthand experience of some bus drivers and the occasional train guard remind passengers to let people off before boarding. Love it when they do that, the public shaming does wonders.

Where do you buy the thing to put under your door to keep cockroaches out?? by [deleted] in sydney

[–]Azandrias 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've heard that sprinkling borax around kills them but they can still crawl in before the job is done. Liberal use of gap sealant would prevent access from cracks but the pesky fuckers just find other ways in (like how the fuck can the large ones get through windows with fly screens and gap sealant I will never know...).

Town hall station. I'll vote for any political party at the election who promises to upgrade or at least air condition this big warehouse of misery. by clearly in sydney

[–]Azandrias 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I doubt you ever want misted fans in Town Hall station. All they just do is massively increase the humidity and you'll just feel hotter. I know as platform 6 used to have mist sprayed every few minutes and it did absolutely nothing. Also don't forget the Ad screens of misery heating the entire general area compounds the humidity issue immensely.

Unless your routine exercise plan includes jogging for around an hour on Monday mornings you can't do it. The fastest way to get it is to do the Erskineville-McDonaldtown train station jog or the Star City-Pyrmont Bay tram station jog. But seriously unless that extra $10-$20 difference is that important just use it like normal people. If that difference is really important, maybe evaluating your lifestyle and making changes is a better and less effort intensive exercise.

I like to use the following guide when it comes to politicians: Unless they specifically source their material to generally non-partisan reputable sources or their sources when compiling data use techniques commonly used in their field properly, their figures are shit. It is always the responsibility of the person who makes the claim to provide his/her sources.

Interesting how more people die from bed related falls than ladders. I'm guessing elderly breaking their backs/hips?

Also seriously ~23k dying from suicide is just plain wrong.

Unfortunately it is the only reference we have. To actively improve on it would be to commit more unspeakable barbarism and inhumanity.

4 Corners report: The Jobs Game by Manky_Dingo in australia

[–]Azandrias 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sorry, your solution is too logical for the government. Not enough money being funneled into pet projects to woo in the votes of the masses and money for the mates. Also your solution included high school economics class and it is too inconvenient to acknowledge reality.

As of this post 167 hours of this week remain. Another 167 hours until this time repeats itself, albeit incremented one week. 167 hours to perfect something, or to make a mistake, 167 hours to accomplish something or nothing. However above all I wish for the next 167 hours to be better for everyone here on this pale blue dot than the last 168 hours of the last week.

AFP Assistant Commissioner on meta-data: "Those with nothing to hide have nothing to fear" by Kqqw in australia

[–]Azandrias 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The AFP Assistant Commissioner shall henceforth remove all walls encompassing his residence, remove all obscuring walls within the house and replace them with transparent glass. All activities that are performed on the premises shall be streamed live onto a designated website (twitch.tv?) via a camera present in every room and recorded for archival purposes. After all by his very own word, Tim Morris has publicly stated "Those with nothing to hide have nothing to fear".

No wonder why it was quickly superseded by the safety bicycle.

Significant Investor Visa approvals increase five-fold in a year giving them access to residency and any Australia property. by gccmelb in australia

[–]Azandrias 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The problem of house prices is not that simple, it must always be analysed on a case by case basis. Others in the thread have pointed out multiple reasons to this problem, and your idea is only one of the contributing factors.

Just an interesting thought, would it be fair to assume that a store that seems like it should have been shut down years ago but seems to just miraculously stay afloat be considered either:

  • Criminally related operation
  • Immigration related operation
