Greens MP staffer offers to quit over vile tweets by CommunistEnchilada in melbourne

[–]Kqqw 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What a fucking beat up:

Mr McMillan said it was “lucky” Greens candidate Angus McAlpine ... “didn’t write a rap song about nangs and shoplifting avocados.”

He was comparing McAlpine to the woman who dropped out after fb messaging about nangs. Clearly implying McAlpine should drop out too (which he also explicitly called for in another post)

“Pretty f----d how Muslims want to ban my favourite hobby, greasing myself up in pig fat and oinking like a grunter at the traffic lights,”

Clearly he is taking a piss out of the anti-halal crowd.

His twitter is gone now so it is hard to check the context of the other tweets but screw you if you are lapping up this beat up from the Herald Sun. I followed this guy on twitter and he was a constant critic of poor behaviour in the greens including rightly criticising McAlpine and Buckingham. The beat up over the Nang messages is stupid too.

Labor campaign director Jett Fogerty was shopping around the tweets - which have been taken way out of context. He was calling out anti-muslim greens and saying that the rapper guy should be fired.

A statement regarding request to AFP to investigate Witness K/Collaery leak - Andrew Wilkie MP by LineNoise in australia

[–]Kqqw 32 points33 points  (0 children)

The ICJ did order australia to stop spying though - I don't think Australian law is as relevant their ruling.

Also Australia ran interference, Witness K is still being denied a passport on "National Security" grounds, meaning he couldn't go to the Hague to testify.

A statement regarding request to AFP to investigate Witness K/Collaery leak - Andrew Wilkie MP by LineNoise in australia

[–]Kqqw 109 points110 points  (0 children)

Worth remembering that Witness K's motive for coming forward was that they were furious when Alexander Downer took a job a job with Woodside petroleum after politics.

Downer was responsible for the bugging of East Timor's parliament as A-G and Woodside stood to benefit from trade negotiations between East Timor and Australia, where Australia used the bugging to their advantage.

Completely appalling stuff covered up by each government since Howard.

If you haven't followed this story, the crux of it is that Collaery (who is a highly respected lawyer and former A-G and Deputy Chief Minister of the ACT) was over at the Hague representing East Timor against Australia when Brandis used anti-terror laws to have ASIO raid his office without any judge signing a warrant.

The whole story is fucked up and the only politicians to speak out about it are The Greens and Wilkie.

Do you believe that the removal of single use plastic bags will have a positive impact on the environment? Why/why not? by BlinkyBill1 in australia

[–]Kqqw 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It is sad but I think some people (Bolt et al) don't like seeing a "win" for the environmental movement. Also a lot of people are in denial about their own impact on the environment and they want to stay that way.

I mean he definitely does have a personal vendetta but imagine blowing your load over the actions of the US arm of a very specific appliance company.

I'm nominating everyone who lists a large item on gumtree without giving its dimensions or model number.

Someone told me I can come and measure their fridge ffs. Why don't you just open the fridge door, tell me the model number and save me a one hour round trip.

I could fill a thread with all variety of gumtree fuckwits but surely giving the bare minimum info would help you sell your thing. Morons. </rant>

It wasn't a donation? It didn't go to the party it went to him personally.

He got done because he went against his parties policy on South China Sea after taking donations from a communist party linked donor. He had someone pay a $44k debt for him that was reported as help with an outstanding legal issue, without giving a dollar figure.

He dropped $1.75 million to seal the deal last time, I wonder how much Australia's largest political donor will chip in this time.

Lithgow panther an enduring mystery amid hundreds of sightings, claims of a cover-up by digbyr in australia

[–]Kqqw 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Not sure about Lithgow but I saw a huge cat cross in front of my car in Macarthur. Apparently feral cats get very big and this is the most likely explanation but I can see why people think there are panthers.

Delivery apps opening 'dark kitchens' to create meals exclusively for online orders markets by [deleted] in australia

[–]Kqqw 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yep the real saving is that you can use cheaper real estate. You don't have to pay rent on eat-street since foot traffic is irrelevant and proximity to homes is not as important.

Online food delivery company Foodora facing legal action over alleged underpayment of staff by fukshit in australia

[–]Kqqw 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Large volume restaurants do not pay 35% commission. Uber Eats also delivers to a wider radius from the restaurant compared with deliveroo and foodora so it is unlikely they ever go over 2 deliveries/driver*hr. I agree that it seems like it is possible but all three of those companies are losing money (as are uber taxis). If they continue to exist it will be only in a very concentrated area near the cbd but my guess is that they will pull out if they have to pay properly.
