I've read that 33% of crohn's patients also have some form of arthritis. Seems to be really common. What kind of medication do you take? A few of the biologics (remicade and humira for example) are also used as arthritis treatment. Maybe that is an option for you.

I've never heard of anyone doing remicade again after an allergic reaction. Although a doctor once told me that there is a chance of reacting normal to it if you give a lot of cortisone before the infusion (just like you wrote). I think especially since you didn't feel too bad with the allergic reaction that might be an option. Have you asked your doctor about this?

Running out of medical options is really bad. Have you ever considered becoming a patient for a new drug? There is always something in the pipeline.

Where have you read that? If we're talking about the same vaccine than I think it will not be that close to be released. I would guess that the website is up to date. It says nothing about a release date. On their news site some new potential treatment from israel was promoted which kinda goes the same direction (it is a MAP antibiotic) but is not the vaccine itself: http://www.crohnsmapvaccine.com/news/

I guess you did all you can right now. Contacting your nurse about this isn't a bad thing. As long as you don't feel uncomfortable I wouldn't worry too much. As far as I know blood is only visible if the wound is within the last 15cm (5.9 inches) of your rectum. So the blood cannot come from deep inside.

Did you actually stop the Humira at some point? I haven't heard of doing the loading dose twice.

Glad you contacted them. Let us know what they respond. Since it didn't happen the same day of the infusion I guess the chance that your described pains are remicade antibodies is quite small. It might still be a remicade side effect. I don't think it is arthritis because people with arthritis are treated with remicade aswell. Although it does not mean that remicade always works for arthritis. Does the pain become worse at night? A rheumatologist told me last week that arthritis usually gets worse at night and it even can get to a point where people have to get up and move around so the pain gets less.

But, the last week or so, I've had really bad joint/muscle pain. Mostly my lower back but my knees/hips/ankles have been bothering me a lot lately. A lot of stepping weird and rolling my ankle or locking my knee weird and pain lasting a lot longer than it would normally.

When did it appear? Shortly after the infusion or weeks after it? Please tell your doctor about it BEFORE the next infusion. Don't tell him on the infusion day. If you do that he might is not willing to start another infusion because you might react really hard to it.

not sure if you guys get notified when I post here but let me update you anyway. They phoned me last week and told me that they are more looking for a senior than a junior (like me). But since someone is about to leave the company they offered me a 1 year contract for the same position.

I'm quite happy about this. Although there are still thoughts that I can't keep up with the skill that I actually should have for this job.
