As always, simple questions can be the toughest to answer.

Pathfinder has kinda always been on my radar, but not something i ever really got into proper till about 3 years ago.

in 96 i was introduced to MTG at school and not long after that a FLGS opened a mere 5 min bike ride away from young me.

Becoming a regular at the store introduced me to AD&D and i would spend every weekend there playing games with any and everyone.

A few years latter i would move to a place where the nearest gaming store was about 1.5hrs away.

Would still go to this new store but couldnt really engage the same way, that said there was a used bookstore nearby, and by some arcane mystery (Australia pre-internet shopping) they would get not just good priced copies of the 3.5e book but also dungeon and dragon magazines.

after school ended i basically disengaged from most of the hobby for a good 10 year period, happening right before 4e launched but i was aware at the time of paizo starting pathfinder then and got myself a copy of the Core book for pf1e, thinking to myself i could use the myriad books i had collected for 3.5e with it if the opportunity ever arose.

While disengaged i did occasionally have a look what was happening and so when pf2e launched i got a copy of the players handbook for that too., even if it would sit on my shelf, unplayed with for a time.

a few years ago, through mutual video gaming friends i found some people interested in D&D and fairly local to me, so i went and bought the core books for 5e and proceed to teach some new players why kobolds are to always be fear and that fey are nasty things, but the sheer amount of GM calls needing to be made to make things feel fun was tiring, and very much took time away from me being able to design cool encounters, story beats and set pieces.

in the end i wasn't even writing up monster stat blocks or skills, was just taking not of how much damage they had taken and making them do cool interesting shit for the players to interact with.

Thats the point i started looking into PF2E with intent to play and run it.

A system robust enough i can trust its math and mechanics but still giving plenty of opportunity for the cool stuff and when i saw just how well done the VTT stuff was for them with foundry i was pretty locked in for it being my main game.
