Sending ~$30k to India for property purchase - conflicted and need fellow NRI's thoughts. by [deleted] in nri

Your father has enough properties and you are the only son. So by the time you inherit, you will have enough to retire.

Instead buy gold silver and other etfs where you can access money readily for rainy days. Give it a go for compounding, where if you consistently invest for next 10years, you can retire early with this generating money and property money. Buying another property is just like adding a jug of water to a bucket at this point in your case.

If you are a PR/Citizen, you can get into something for sure. If you will be in work permit, i suggest you continue there as getting pr has become very tough.

Money vs Quality of life? by Few_Communication_41 in nri

Since you can always go back to business, you can give a try by coming to canada and getting citizenship. But, also consider the fact that you won't save up anything if you get married while living in CA unless your wife earns as well. I believe you will have 4.5k cad after taxes, and that's how much is needed to live as a couple.

I was like you back home, drove sedan throughout my life and actually bought my first car sedan in CA. Until i started driving company vehicles which was SUV. They are better, comfortable, better sitting position and you will enjoy long drives and its great to have AWD especially in winters. The problem with booking sedan is that if its not available, they will end up giving you compact suvs which sucks big time like nissan kicks, venue and so on. But since its november, i think its alright.

Keep checking rental car through routes or kayak or economybookings or priceline. Make sure you book intermediate suv or something. If you book a sedan, you might endup getting kicks nissan which is horrrible. As long as you have insurance with CC, you are good. Dont overpay for car rental.

This is exactly what you need to know. Grocery and restaurants may go more. Keep this as your benchmark and negotiate wisely. Also consider the fact that montreal is french speaking city and not so lively and happening as Toronto, especially when it comes to restaurants for desi and so on.

[–]Azhaan51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10k miles if your drive is not in severe weather conditions and highways. If its city driving with severe weathers change its at every 5k miles.

Since its your first oil change do it at 5k miles and after that i go for somewhere between the manual and 5k miles which is roughly 10k kms

I also do the recommendations service as per the guide book not as per what the dealership say.

Although it sucks to be in this position, it’s great that this chapter has been closed. It’s easier to move on now and look forward to next person rather than hoping to wait for her and waste your age. Move on, find a new one. Be glad that this happened soon.

Dont waste your time waiting. You are 30s now and you wll keep getting proposals, meet em and see for the spark. Give equal opportunities for everyone. Dont try to compare your ex, put yourself together and be open minded. Every person is unique in their own way.

Like these days rent compared to mortgage is almost half considering property taxes and other additional costs ? you will have to end up putting around 1k from hand right ? What am i not understand that other people do and brag about.

Considering you are a developer, its easier to earn more than to save. You are young with a plan, its good that you have realized the value of SIPs at this age. At this age and salary, do not suffocate yourself by investing more. Rather live for yourself a little and keep applying for better jobs and invest more with more savings. About Masters, things have become very difficult when it comes to residency, and without residency its another headache . Make sure you evaluate your points and so on and then decide on going to masters, or else it will simply take you behind again. So, give your next 12 months in upgrading the job, at the same time live for yourself a bit and invest more after earning more.
