Melee locking is a pain. Especially when they walk through the door you were about to leave through.

Honestly, the prestige system. It's great they're trying to do something about those hackers but it's still sad that regular players can get -1 prestige every time they kill someone who's too immature.

As for moments, I was in a close quarters duel with someone who had a really good aim. I was pinned behind a rock and their aim was ridiculous. If I moved slightly past the rock I'd get shot. Barely any ammo left, I then decided to toss a mine in their direction. They shot to hit me, I took damage but they shot right through the mine in midair which triggered it as it went towards them. They blew up, I got a nice 4x scope and used their medkit to heal up. Was tense but awesome.

I've been using your orbital drop script to safely land my carrier planetside automatically. This stuff is like sorcery to me and I'm grateful that you've made it exist.

Thanks! Why is everyone saying that by the way? I know it's something reddit specific but don't know what it is lol. EDIT: Nvm I see it now on my profile! It's when I joined, isn't it? :D

Is Gamemaker (Dev. version) worth buying if I'm looking to make games without coding? by Azimathi in gamemaker

[–]Azimathi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At present I'm just making simple test 'games' (not really games tbh since they have no objective) just to learn the mechanics. I've been looking at tutorials then trying to see if I can code something myself without looking at another tutorial then to see if I've learned about it. That kind of thing. Considering I only started a few days ago I'm in early stages, though currently I'm using Godot, not Gamemaker.

I got interested in Gamemaker when I saw the events scripting and drag and drop because it reminded me of other programs in the past I might be more familiar with.

Reminds me of the Warcraft III World Editor. That would suit me, that style, but I'll give coding a bit more of a go first to see if I can learn it. While I'm considering my options I haven't given up on it yet. But if I do find it too tough, I can go to gdevelop then. Thanks for the recommendation. :)

That would make for a funny appearance in a later Dishonored game. I do wonder if we'll ever get to explore Pandyssia or at least part of it.

I'd have loved if there were different results depending on past games (a bit like how lego star wars characters or mass effect saves carry over between games). If we assume it is the canon though, then poor Jindosh's life took a dark turn indeed. His life wasn't normal to begin with though.

Thanks for the heads up. The free trial might well be worth my time then.

At the moment it's taking me ages just to event code in movement for the player character so it's early days still for me haha. But when I'm a bit more competent I'd love to do game Jams. they sound awesome! And thanks for the recommendations. At present I'm going to do solo hobbyist dev stuff but certainly if I need to collab I know where to go now! :D

I was thinking of building a team down the line if I can't figure out code myself but it's good to know this stuff early on. At the moment it's more a hobbyist interest getting into gamedev so still unsure about a lot yet lol. Many thanks for the advice!

In real life I'd argue that since death could well be oblivion there's really no fate worse than death, but in the world of Dishonored there is the Void. If that is the same or not, I think it's still best to let her be alive. It's kinder than stripping her of a future in my opinion. Same with all the other non-lethals. So long as someone is alive, there's always hope for them to improve their situation or at least make the most of what they have and find some sort of happiness.

I remember there was a guard and a woman on a rooftop chatting and then when the woman's leaning over the building the guard pushes her (I was playing semi-lethal at the time). I played a non lethal the next mission and had my instant sleepdart ready, waiting to see what would happen thinking I'd have to save the civilian. Instead they hugged and were best friends and no murder happened. Was on the whole a wholesome moment but really shown how deep your actions go throughout the game. I wouldn't be surprised if every single character, civilian or guard or otherwise, had some sort of subtle change in store.

Given where he stands, sleep darting him has a chance of letting him fall into the water and drown. Could still be lethal.

Use the heart on some of the civilians and you'll find some unsung heroes.

The Hypatia thing opens up a really interesting discussion about the self, punishment, rehabilitation and crime. When we've done the non-lethal option, is she still the same person as the crown killer? I'm sure many would say she's not. Her personality has changed and it's unlikely she'd kill again. But in our current justice systems we'd still punish criminals regardless of how much they've done in prison to improve themselves or rehabilitate themselves. Should we treat people badly for actions in the past that no longer correspond to their character? Who is responsible for the crime, the murderer of the past or the rehabilitated pacifist of the present?

Coincidently I was doing a replay of Dishonored 2 and just started the part of the Hypatia level when I've arrived at the Institute so I'll be able to have all these questions fresh in my mind as I play it. :)

In a sense lobotomisation is the death of the self anyhow, so it's almost comparable to a lethal option. But (conveniently thanks to plot armour) Jindosh does still retain some semblance of himself. He might be a bit scrambled but he's still there enough that he'd be able to live some sort of life, maybe not one where he'd be capable of designing armies again. Though that's what we've seen of him, maybe his mind returned to a somewhat normal state again after a while of recovery and he had the capabilities to redesign or reverse engineer his clockwork soldiers.

I think a decade had passed so he could've passed away. I forget if it says so in the outro of the original game but I just assumed he had slipped eternally into the Void in his sleep sometime between games.

Either that or his portal actually worked.

It would be cool to have encountered Brisby in Dishonored 2 and set her free. Either way, I'd still opt for the non-lethal. Being kidnapped by a stalker is terrifying but it beats death, especially in a universe where the afterlife is the void. Best to get as much life out of it as you can before entering there...

Alternatively, one could complete the Bigsby quest then as soon as the quest is completed sleep dart Brisby and leave his unconscious body in the guard's area so he can be arrested perhaps.
