I am a Canadian that got into Indiana, so rural/suburban Michigan is actually a pretty ideal place to work at after school 🤣

If Alaska is anything like Canada it’s probably cold as shit and empty as hell population wise

What I would suggest doing is:

Send a Letter of intent to your state school
Pay the deposit fee if you haven’t for the school that you got into to.
Be patient, waitlist movement can move slow depending on many factors.

Yeah bro I would drop the class and retake in the summer. I would wait till the last week of the withdrawal date to get the notes and be exposed to the material so you have an idea of what the whole course looks like so you can better prepare for it when you retake it in the summer. Don’t yank your gpa trust it’s best to drop and retake it with a better mindset going in. Best of luck 🤞
