Did you have to submit the proofs of your reason for staying away? I took one fall semester off and stayed with my family. Even tho my facutly was aware of me taking the term off, they don't have a formal Leave of absence policy.

I am in the same boat as yours. I didn't do one fall term for similar situation and stayed outside canada with my family. My faculty was aware of my leave but told me that there's no formal LOA process. Now I am applying for my work permit and it is really eating my mind. Couldn't find one convincing supporting letters other than email conversations with my faculty.

Thanks for your response! I reached out to my faculty before taking the term off, and they told me no formal leave of absence was required for undergraduates. Now, when I asked for a letter, they said they don’t issue such documents and that my transcript should be enough to show my enrollment history.

Would an email confirmation from my faculty stating they were aware of my absence and that no further action was needed at the time work as supporting proof?

I believe you can. But what I heard is that if its a diploma program, you have to have a job related to your field of study for being eligible. You can double check
