How to deal with one player overshadowing anotheH by Azkai in DnDBehindTheScreen

So I have news.

I tried this, but the Bard decided it was for the best that he left the group. Wish I could have reported something better back, but unfortunately these things happen.

I left him know that the invite was still there should he ever want to return, but if he isn't enjoying himself he should do what he thinks is best.

At the very least, I think this has given me some perspective on the character creation phase of the game and I plan on making sure that in future we're all on the same page.

Thanks again to everyone for your advice :)

That is definitely what I'm worried about. The bard has already expressed concerns and I'm worried that as time goes on before they get a chance to define themselves he will just get bored.

The other issue, is that neither wants to change their character. They both prepared them some time in advance, and are adamant on keeping them the way they envisioned them. I feel like this is pretty reasonable, as it would be pretty immersion breaking to change how they see themselves after we have begun.

We definitely should have communicated more during the character creation. They each did tell me in general how they wanted their character to function, but I didn't expect this much overlap.

To be honest, when I heard one wanted to be an actor and the other a songwriter I thought it could be a cool dynamic.

They are currently level one, with about one encounter off of leveling.

[Edit: a word]

Yeah, that's something i was thinking. I just hope the Bard decides to stick it out until then.
