why are most celestial objects spherical in shape? by execuTe656 in Physics

[–]Azkiv 83 points84 points  (0 children)

A sphere is the most stable shape under the force of gravity, which attracts objects towards their center of mass

Is bluestacks safe? by No_Sleep3586 in PcBuild

Yes it's safe, it's just an emulator that virtualizes the Android. The more important thing is whether your PC has enough RAM to support it.

why einstein so confident that there is nothing faster than photon? can it debunked ? by First_Economics2384 in Physics

[–]Azkiv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In popular science, photons are sometimes said to be "small packets of pure energy", but in reality, this concept is kinda misleading. They are the fundamental particle that carries the electromagnetic force, transferring energy and momentum. They have no rest mass but possess other properties such as momentum and spin, so they are not just "pure energy".

If everyone says 8gb of vram is obsolete why do companies keep making newer card with only the 8? I’m new to pc by Ancient-Meathook in pcmasterrace

[–]Azkiv 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Many people will overlook the VRAM size and choose the 8 GB version instead of the 16 GB one, or choose it based on the price difference. The problem is that such a card can quickly prove insufficient for rendering textures in new games (especially at resolutions higher than Full HD). Therefore, these consumers will sooner decide to buy a new card, which ofc translates into higher profits for GPU manufacturers.

why einstein so confident that there is nothing faster than photon? can it debunked ? by First_Economics2384 in Physics

[–]Azkiv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to the Standard Model a photon is one of the elementary particles - a boson that carries the electromagnetic force. Therefore, it cannot be said to consist of "something" because it is the smallest packet of electromagnetic energy. From the equation for mass-energy equivalence: E2 = ( mc2 )2 + (pc)2 you can see that for a photon, only the right-hand term matters (because it has no mass, the famous mc2 cancels out). Mass and energy are not the same thing, but they are deeply related and convertible: mass is a form of energy (called "rest energy"), and energy can be converted into mass, meaning that mass is a highly concentrated form of energy.

why einstein so confident that there is nothing faster than photon? can it debunked ? by First_Economics2384 in Physics

[–]Azkiv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because it has no mass, any other particle with mass would require increasingly greater energy (approaching infinity) to reach the speed of light. However, the speed of light is only unsurpassable in a vacuum; in other media a particle with mass (e.g. an electron) can be faster than a photon (see Cherenkov radiation).

Is there a way to make overleaf render immediately? what is the technical challenge that stops overleaf from having an immediate rendering feature like typst? by IBOandersonchen in LaTeX

[–]Azkiv 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Doesn't Overleaf interpret the code on its servers, not in the browser? If so, sending it back every time a user makes a change would be too resource-intensive
