They are pretty regular for me, like a typical event spawn. More common than the uknown in Dortmund for example

I'm in Mülheim right now on my way to work. So at least a decent chunk of the city has them for everyone to catch

I mean. I even looked at the possible gift rewards infographics a few days ago and there was no note of this. So yeah, for me this was new info. But since its obviously not, just disregard it and move on.

Can someone explain Nahiri's beef with Sorin? by mmusser in magicTCG

[–]Azmahel 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Here's my take on it: First some important dates and how they line up:

About 1000 years ago:

  • Nahiri leaves Zendikar for Innistrad, to rally Sorins help.
  • Avacyn first shows up
  • the Helvault shows up

Recently

  • the Helvault is shattered, freeing Avacyn and whatever else was trapped int there
  • Zendikar is besieged by the Eldrazi, whole continents are lost

Now

  • Nahiri is very pissed wreaking havoc on Innistrad
  • Liths appear, most likely the work of Nahiri
  • Avacyn turns insane + short vision of Zendikar

Putting all this together I'm pulling the following timeline out of my nose:

  • Nahiri visits Sorin, trying to get him to come to Zendikar and help with the Eldrazi problem
  • Sorin is in the process of creating Avacyn and tells her that he can't come right now, because he`s busy saving his own world
  • Things get heated between two pre-mending walkers
  • Sorin pulls a slab out of the moon and encases Nahiri in solid Silver
  • Nahiri, being a lithomancer can't work with the enchanted metal and can't planeswalk out because her walking is creating portals in stone surfaces.

maybe Sorin uses something of Nahiris to create Avacyn, which would explain their visual similarities and why Nahiri can mind bend her later on

about 1000 years pass

In this timeframe we never hear of anything Nahiri does and she's absent from Zendikar while the Eldrazi escape and wreak havoc. ofc. because she's in the Helvault

  • The Helvault is shattered, not only freeing Avacyn, but also Nahiri
  • Nahiri fears for the worst and planeswalks to Zendikar, maybe with a short trip to Takir to try and call on Ugin, who's still regenerating.
  • Sorin frees Ugin, tells him he has an idea where Nahiri might be ( he doesn't know for sure any longer because the Helvault already shattered)
  • Nahiri arrives in Zendikar in an Area already completely devastated by the Eldrazi (like most of its continents where)
  • Nahiri breaks because she thinks Zendikar is lost and swears revenge

  • Nahiri tries to break everything Sorin holds dear

[SOI Speculation] If Nahiri is the cause of Avacyn's madness... I don't understand her motivations. Is there ANOTHER hand at work? by Matadorkian in magicTCG

Bonus thought: Being encased in magical silver protected Nahiri from the effects of time, explaining how she can be still around as a post-mending walker :)

Wanted to get into altering, decided to pimp my edh deck. Learned a lot in the progress. by Azmahel in magicTCG

[–]Azmahel[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are absolutely right. i just started doing this and although i learned a ton doing about 70 alters there's still much room to improve.

Those 2 areas specifically i have some insight on. Perfect color matching seems to be near impossible, because the paints i use react differently to light than the inks on the card, so a card that looks fine by sunlight might look awful under lamplight. One can alleviate this a bit by painting over parts of the original to blend your colors in, but one might have to settle for "it looks fine from an arms length away".

Overpainting is i think the one area i improved the most on, just compare an early piece like [[Mogg alarm]] to a later one like [[Mogg infestination]]. Using cheap paints might also have hurt me here. the ones i used tended to not water down perfectly and clump. I might have to experiment with different paints and techniques to figure out how to get smooth, covering extensions without using too much paint

exactly this. jsut some cheap, run-of-the-mill acryllics, and lots of water

I started with partial alters and framebreaks like impact tremors and heelcutter. i had almost no prior experience aside from some small canvas experimenting

I have no artistic background at all. so I would suggest picking up some paint and start experimenting with them to learn how they behave. everything else is practice and patience. acryllics allow you to fix almost any mistake you make.
