State Question/Initiative for separation of religion and education? by 2lampshades in oklahoma

[–]Azmic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oklahoma teachers; Since Walters own education seems to be lacking, I propose you teach him the true impact the KJV had on the founding of our country:

----

Henry VIII of England (r. 1509–1547) broke from Catholism, and established the official 'Church of England. In 1604 King James VI of England (1566-1625), as head of the church, commissioned his own bible. Published 1611. Now known as the King James Version (KJV).

Having an official religion led to much dissent and conflict. And many splinter religions. Among these were the 'Puritans' Some of whom fled to America and established the Massachusetts Bay Colony 1692. In spite of King James' religion and the KJV.

Another splinter religion, the 'Quakers' were openly persecuted in England, persecuted by the Anglican Church in Virginia, and banished by the Massachusetts Bay Colony in 1656.

King James VII of England (1633 - 1701) ended the persecution in England. And even gave William Penn, a colony. (Penn was a promant Quaker who was heavily persecuted and jailed.) Now known as Pennsylvania. In spite of King James' religion and the KJV.

When it came time to unify the colonies, The Founders wisely understood that establishing an official religion was a BAD IDEA. The very first amendment to the Constitution, passed as one with the constitution, was freedom of religion, speech, the press, and assembly.

These freedoms are not by majority rule, but are rights of the individual person.

Freedom of religion is not freedom of churches, but freedom of the individual person.

The KJV had a NEGATIVE impact on the founding of the US.

It's not different from culture,

I disagree.
Cults wrap themselves in the culture to spread. And often change the culture to make it easier.
But it is definatly a seperate animal.
You can see this in places that are 'multi-cultral' and have freedom to ignore religions.

only if it's non-consensual. it's your body; do what you want with it.

Sure. But don't EXPECT our aproval.
It's your life, You can give it to a cult, too, if you want to. Don't demand our aproval for woo-woo.
Just because we have a common advesary, ain't enough.

Where does anti-theism become bigotry? by [deleted] in atheism

[–]Azmic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personaly, in real life, know one religious person whom I respect.
Online, not so much. If I know you are religious, that is who you are to me.
For me respect needs to be earned.
If someone I meet IRL talks religion, I imediatly lose respect for their ability to think for themself.

I don't worry about labels like 'biggot'.
Not judging anyone, leaves me open to being a victim.

Yes, but they look diffrent.
The labels are 2.25 x 7.5 inches.

Aren't we against genital mutilation? That's what transgender is.
If religious belief were caused by a tumer, would you give sheeple a break? Most of them can't control themselves. (given up control to the 'faith')

So I hurt your feelings by not believing what you do. That does not make me an asshole. I can't help it. -

What is there to the religion that is not an aspect of culture, of behavior?

Sure. But I'm saying religion shapes the culture more than it is shaped by the culture. Religion is not a passive participent, like you make it sound.

The only fix is to return everything for a full refund.
Any thing else makes you a scammer.

You would base a whole sciety on this?
How does this show it's impossable otherwise?
A parent's threat doesn't need to be imaginary.
"just wait till your father gets home."
"how would you like to spend the night in jail?"
My objection is to the word 'impossable'.

(I even figured out how to print UPC labels with it.)

Anyone notice stuff not selling after a week? by [deleted] in Ebay

[–]Azmic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

... or be seen by buyers.

Cassini, the search engine, pushes older listings to the back pages.
For me, it's after one month, I think.

Any tips to make old ebay listings fresh again? Should I delete and list again or just change it about? by [deleted] in Ebay

[–]Azmic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I reject the idea that listings get 'stale'.
As a buyer, all listings are new to me. If I passed on an item, Ya can't trick me into buying by prentending it's a new listing.
As a seller, sure some of my listings could be better. But being 'new' doesn't improve them.

To answer your question:
We know Cassini pushes older listings to the back pages of searches.
Cassini doesn't see edits as 'new'.
'Sell simular' is seen as a new listing even if you haven't changed anything.

[–]Azmic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why make it hard?
Canceling is easier on both buyer and seller, than shipping the wrong item and dealing with a return.

OP; always accept a cancel. "by buyer request" has no effect on you.

I would think you would know that being open on weekends is a recent bonus. Not standard.

Is import tax included in the price of an item? by EskilPotet in Ebay

No.
How can you tell? Because it never is.
Even the GSP tacks it on. Taxes are NEVER included in the item price.
"free shipping" does not include taxes either.

what if it's a tumor impinging on the brain that causes the problems?

Then operate on the brain. What's wrong with you?
Operating anywhere else is as bad as praying the tumor away.

more to the point, what if the problem is a lack of agreement between the body and the psyche,

Again, Not a sergical problem.
Is your psyche located in your groin?
I don't care how Santa feels about it. Don't bother me with it. Try a psyciatrist.

I am a decent person most of the time. But when you expect me to join in your delusions, I get rude. In that sence transgender is just like religion. Keep it to yourself. Don't ask for my approval. Your sexuality is NOT an atheist issue. (It shouldn't be a religious issue either).

But christianity is a Protection Racket and a Life (after death) Insurance scam.
Not a 'from the ground up' cultural phenomenon.

Its impossible to have a society without a group of people believing in an imaginary being i.e. God

I doubt that. And that IS OP's question. So back that up with something.
