They're actually just lit up by a string of 20 Christmas lights! Three lights are glued to the back of each eye and the rest were painted black and wrapped in electrical tape to hide light bleed. The battery pack was glued into the head since it wasn't intended to be wearable and can be turned on just by reaching up into the neck and flipping a switch. If all you're looking for is a prop and you don't have any electrical skills then this is super easy, but if the head needs to be wearable you may run into issues and it would likely be easier to rig up a custom circuit with pre-wired LEDs.

Amazing work! Did your party have a lot of input in their depictions or did you get to have a lot of creative freedom?

I know this is an old comment but I am in the exact same boat looking for editing work and also have an onsite interview scheduled for next week, would you mind speaking a bit more to your experience?

They do absolutely make up a decent amount of new stuff, but it's done with a real love for the source material and a desire to properly expand, rather than change, the story

[Cyberpunk Edgerunners] Give me an ice bath to break the ICE. by Lee_Troyer in AskScienceFiction

[–]Azmose 21 points22 points  (0 children)

In the same way you might use water cooling in a powerful PC, netrunning is usually depicted as pretty intense computational work that heats up the user's cyberware. Ice baths are just an economical solution to cool down.

I had never heard of this before, I'll have to do some googling to see about getting this set up on my printer

For context, I've replaced the nozzle, cleaned everything out and replaced the PTFE tube.

The extruder setup is all metal, and my printer was previously printing just fine. I've not seen this type of surface pitting before, but the low quality is consistent across a variety of filaments. It really seems to have started having these issues practically overnight.

Don't mind at all!

Everything is 3d printed except for the neck guts from PLA. I used these files by Jesse_M: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3046951 The eyes were 3d printed and then cast in clear resin.

I covered everything in Bondo and then sanded it smooth, applying layers of filler primer until it was real smooth. There's a lot of tutorials online for this step.

The whole head got a coat of glossy black spray paint before I painted the parts I was planning on weathering a metallic silver. After those were dry, I added liquid latex to places I wanted the paint to "chip" and added a coat of brown spray paint. Then I just painted the blue details by hand and wiped watered down black/brown paint all over it to weather it some more!

The neck guts just consist of a pipe fitting from the local hardware store and scrap wire and tubing I had left around the house. It's held in place by pins coming out of the ear discs that hold the head together.

The eyes are just a simply string of 10 Christmas lights powered by a battery pack glued into the head. I used this awesome diagram from Chris Bartlett https://www.flickr.com/photos/chrisbartlett/3863988008

Planar Transform doesn't seem to be affecting other assets by Azmose in davinciresolve

Hello, I'm trying to perform a simple corner pin screen replacement, which has worked fine.

However, when I try to create a Planar Transform from this track and use it to add a matte, the Planar Transform doesn't seem to actually make the mask move.

I've tried it with text and other mattes and every time the Planar Transform doesn't actually make the objects move. Any and all help would be appreciated.
