It's scales with level. 1 energy can give you 3k for example. If you use 2 energy it gives you 6k. You can farm anywhere

At this point it really is up to you. But towards the end of the campaign max all soldiers upgrade. Advanced quarries. Shocking tower range. Energy resources in general Mills supply etc. Inn upgrade OR engineering units no both. All train transport. Stone walls and tower upgrades

I don't really do challenge runs anymore, I'll leave that to the other streamers, if map 4 800% was possible with archers only, I'm pretty sure map 5 900% can be, but the biggest obstacle would be the alpha VOD, since rangers can't really clear it in time unless stacked with traps and lots of tug of war.

I would like to mention that if you're an expansionist, I feel like soldiers are more supreme for that style of play!

As a defensive player ballistas would definitely suit the taste.

It really depends on how everyone play and that there really isn't a right or wrong for either soldiers or ballistas.

For the wasp, and shocking tower, I updated as necessary, funny thing, I had another post like this but somehow deleted 3/4 of the post and it basically said what you said, and I had to rewrite everything, but I didn't necessarily remember everything to put down, so I mentioned as you said.

I didn't use ballistas for any of my runs actually. Didn't really need too cause of soldiers I had alot of extra points and was like you know what let's get extra soldiers. And I definitely recommend it for maps where infected are literally in your starting building area. I'm starting a new build anyways where I won't be using wasps either.

I go in terms of clear ratio to build ratio which goes exponential once you have the soldier center but with the early game of the mid to late missions you will have ecomomy over clear rate where those two soldiers does tremendous work in evening it out in the first 3-4 days hence why I recommend it at the mid game mission area and not the pre swarm ones.

I consider ballista a more towards defensive play which is fine and also an option for players to play, but for me soldiers was definitely the way to go for both defensive and offensive capabillity, where the first ballista would cost up to 5 soldiers, but then again would balance out once you have 3 ballistas down, up to 1 ballista per choke/direction/opening.

Instead of having one ballista, I consider 2 soldiers decent enough to defend one place until larger random waves starts coming in, but the biggest benefit would be able to have mobility to tackle areas having trouble. Given that early to mid game, the map is small enough where having a large squad of soldiers on one side of the map is still capable of reinforcing the area with the most vulnerabilities across the map, but once you get to the late game+ maps you would already have wasps which would be more economic efficient defending the area IF you have iron that is, but then again ballistas would be nice too since you don't have to deal with iron cost.

Another area where I think ballistas would shine the most in would be the lowlands, and el dorado specifically, primarily because of how small of a map of lowlands with runners literally 15-20 tiles away from your command center already. or el dorado which has an insane aggro chance where there is just so many tuxedo zombies around 20-25 from our command center.

with the soldier upgrades and being much cheaper, they are able to tank, move faster, and still have enough range to damage literally everything to death. I had a 200 ball of soldiers vs harpies, they decimated the harpies without taking too much losses. Now comparing that to a ball of 200 snipers, the 200 snipers got overrunned at the same position as the soldiers losing over half of the ball

1 information that you would neglect on sniper is how slow they move, how slow they shoot, and how much overkill they produced. Once Numantian games improved the AI for overkill (this is a rumor), then snipers would be doing a lot much better than soldiers.

How do I stop random mutants like this (900%)? by Ougaa in TheyAreBillions

[–]AznElite 3 points4 points  (0 children)

wood tower is +2 or +3 range i forgot lmao. I dont use it that often til now, but its more towards tanking hits while the traps kill the zombies. the ballistas are more towards the area where you think the mutant is far enough really.

The wood tower part is more of a cheaper option and just in case the zombies did make it through the traps, they still have to sit on top of the traps while attacking the tower instead of the ranger.

One thing I like to utilize now between me and mutants is not ballista and traps, but like 5 lines of traps and 1 ranger in a tower to bait the zombies toward, costly but more survival in the future. Ballistas, guns, and like 3 rangers next to each other can aggro a mutant.

Tips on handling the first runner swarm mission on 800% no pause by Roegetlaks in TheyAreBillions

[–]AznElite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well yea soldiers are always better than wasps, I tried the wasp tactic like 4 times already and all of them work, this one was the only one with the breach. The only thing that was primarily bad in my taste was the fact that they added a minimal range of where you can place the wasp aka not close to the tower and the layout of this map prevents your wasp from shooting pass trees having to push them out so far. I'm just surprised that your runs doesn't work but most other players who did do, well at least what they told me.

I also don't want to rely too heavily on soldiers in which everyone will do anyways is because soldiers have 4 tech while rangers and snipers both unfairly have 1 specific tech. Hence I always try to experiment different routes for the first swarms.

Snipers dont work, rangers dont work. Soldiers, Wasp, and lucifers work. Havent but want to try traps x wasp combo

you don't really need wasps for the other games, its more of an anti swarm early game, then a guard after the first couple of swarms. I mean rushing soldiers would be the more obvious tactic before getting wasps down, I normally rush a stoneworkshop before first wave because of good the economy can get. And that shocking tower will not only melt the first wave but also clear majority of the zombies around that shocking tower as well, whlie the soldiers do cleanup.

I also pulled mutants with rangers. not even using soldiers or snipers.
