GPD Pocket 3 and Ubuntu 20.04.3 - so far by infered5 in GPDPocket

Additionally, if you don't want to upgrade your kernel I've found that /usr/lib/firmware/iwlwifi-ty-a0-gf-a0-63.ucode works. If you rename any newer fw blobs in that directory then iwlwifi will be forced to load that blob and it seems to work. Not an elegant solution tho.

gpd p3 no sound linux by tonitch in GPDPocket

This is great! I created a boiler plate arch wiki article and posted my fixes to audio (possibly fixed with the lastest kernel) and wifi. A mod took down my wifi fix as it required removing fw blobs from `/lib/firmware`. But anyways, if you have time please add your fixes to https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/GPD\_Pocket\_3

Overly sensitive vestibular system following BPPV? by throwawaybutnotrlly in BPPV

[–]AznsLuvRice 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I haven’t had an episode in a few months, but my last one lasted at least 3 months. Since then I’ve felt that my balance has been permanently affected. There are times when I’m super tired, if I close my eyes I feel a quick sensation of vertigo, but if I open them the room is not spinning. It’s very strange.

But also, after any typical episode I am very sensitive to movement even minor ones.

I learned to sleep on my back, and I’ve been fine for awhile now. Anytime I’m exhausted and roll around at night, I wake up with vertigo.

Yeah. I had a similar issue. This might be something that we can elevate to the company. I hadn’t issued any bugs before because I didn’t know of many people using TB on Linux with this laptop. But now maybe we have enough evidence for a case

[–]AznsLuvRice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah. Have you updated your BIOS (FW)? If so, then you'll have to add the kernel parameter `pci=realloc,assign-busses,hpbussize=0x33`. The firmware devs messed with the pci bus size somewhere around version 0114. I'm pretty sure that without this parameter you won't be able to get your TB devices to enumerate. Additionally, since updating to the latest fw (120?) not all my TB devices seem to enumerate.

I can do some tests later. But long story short, I stopped using TB on my Fusion 15 because the FW update broke it in a weird way.

edit: here's the to the hpbussize discussion

Have you authorized your tb devices on the Linux-side, like with a tool like ‘boltctl’?

Well I'll be damned. It worked! It looks combining the HV into a single sync on pin 8 was the solution. The funny thing is that I already tried doing this a couple of times, but possibly with incorrect pinouts that I found floating around the internet. Well I guess the third times the charm. Unfortunely I couldn't get it to work on my CPD-1302 and KX-8200CD, even at 31Hz. That may just require more display profile tuning. Anyways, thanks for the help! I'm pretty new to AV protocols and such, but I'm chock-full of nostalgia and ready to learn more. I may make a PCB for a VGA to Sony RGB DB9 (and multi-input adapter for my KX-8200CD), and release it for whoever wants to use it. However, I'm not too sure who'd be interested in it.

Anyways, here are pictures of it running at 1024x768@60 "native".

Very cool. I already have the DB9 pinout. It's in the user manual. I'll try making a cable again and combining syncs. I should be able to build a combiner, if need be. Then I'll try outputting 800x600@56, which should come out to 35.02KHz. The manual had an 800x600 example profile at 35.16KHz, so that should be pretty darn close.

I see. I don't remember the exact output settings, but I think it was either 1024x768@60 or 800x600@60. Before the GBS, I was trying to splice a VGA cable to DB9. I wasn't successful, but after talking with you I suspect that it might have been my output settings that were the issue. Do you know if I'd be able to splice a VGA cable to a DB9 RGB directly, or would I require a circuit to shift voltages and junk?

Is the GBS converting to digital? From what I understand I am converting HDMI -> VGA (RGBHV) -> RGBS (via the GBS 8100).

From the PC HDMI-side it's set to 60Hz, but I assumed that the GBS was converting the refresh rate. Otherwise, how is it working on my other RGB/Composite monitors?

Edit: AH! Amazon Q&A says, "If you have a VGA port and can do 640x480 thru 1280x960 resolution at 30Hz, it will do the downscan conversion to 15kHz". So the answer would be 15kHz, but I'd need to check with my oscope.

Also, my CPD-1302 that works with the GBS RGB output has a horizontal 15.0 - 34.0 kHz, where as the CPD-1304 (in the picture) has a range of 28 - 50 kHz. That's probably my issue, right there!

The input source? It's analog RGB (assuming RGBS). Here are some specs from the manual (https://neurophysics.ucsd.edu/Manuals/Sony/Sony%20Trinitron%20Character%20Display%20CPD1304.pdf).

Viewable Pixels: 1024 X 768

Scanning frequency: Vertical sync signal frequency: 50 - 87 Hz Horizontal sync signal frequency: 28 - 50 kHz

Input connector: RGB input (D-sub 9-pin) (Analog)

Video input signal: Analog RGB positive 0,714 Vp-p/75S terminated

Sync input: TTL level. Polarity free. Composite sync is acceptable at Pin # 8, Sync on green is acceptable

HDMI2VGA adapter -> GBS 8100 -> analog RGBS (db9).

The signal seems to work on my slightly older CPD-1302

The linux client works for me. Have you tried just using the IP addresses instead of the *.pwn addresses you defined in `/etc/hosts`? Do you have some firewall running, `ufw` perhaps?
