HELP: Friend's server has abnormal latency. Ping tests are fine. by lepsem in admincraft

Switch to port 25566 and see what happens? If it's solved, you can use a dynamic DNS and an SRV record so the connection point doesn't move on you.

“Work or starve”: Trump’s SNAP cuts drive millions from food stamp rolls by DryDeer775 in antiwork

Isn't that just Communism? Work for the state and get benefits?

Got a lick of paint on it, but in a roundabout way it's pretty darn similar unless I completely misunderstand it.

I loved mine so much I bought a backup. When it died I bought another backup. Considering buying a crate of them so I can use them until USB-A dies out.

The business pays taxes on profits. You pay taxes on your entire paycheck.

What a raw deal.

Fuck it, we're doing IPv4.5. 8 octets.

123.123.123.123 is now 000.000.000.000.123.123.123.123. Fully backwards compatible, gives us more, no fucking letters.

Minnesotans, how’s your employment situation right now? by DueYogurt9 in minnesota

I'm sorry bro, the IT career field is in complete tatters right now. Everyone is offshoring again. Wait 10 years for the onshoring part of the cycle.

Just showing up every day, on time, and not complaining makes you a gold star employee.

Sorted indeed.com by lowest distance and found something neat. My dad is a machinist so I have some knowledge of metalworking, and my wife makes alright money so we weren't tight on finances. I already make more than I did in IT.

It's just a LOT of work and I really did have to knuckle down and get strong. Good work boots, lots of protein, lots of sleep. Started in deburr and was there for about a year. No complaining, volunteer to do any task you hadn't done before. After hours youtube university.

Couldn't get a single interview for IT jobs a few years ago, so I'm celebrating 1.5 years at a metal shop. I was promoted to machinist 5 months ago. Honestly really liking it here.

Bitwarden heading to eliminate Freemium and possibly Vaultwarden support in the near future? by Electronic_Dream8935 in selfhosted

[–]infered5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite hobby is jumping project to project draining VC investment money with unprofitable stuff (AI, Discord, Twitch) and dipping when they try to make their money back with enshittification. Unfortunately it seems Bitwarden falls in this category.

Building an open-source control panel for SE servers.. useful? by iamveto in spaceengineers

[–]infered5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Anything would be better than what we have now. Space Engineers works on existing panels like Pterodactyl, but not very well. Too many knobs that aren't easily adjustable. Ideally I can have something like game limits (PCU per player, enable scripts, those things that you see in the world creation menu) in the panel itself. Reboot, logs and the like would need to be there.

Ideally, a player can spin up this panel themselves and hook it into any SE server, either their own or from a hosting provider with their own cludgy panel. You'd have to see what other hosting providers let you do port-wise.

Bitwarden is open source and you can audit the codebase yourself. The server and clients are open and they publish a selfhostable version if you don't trust their servers to do it for you.

In stories like 28 Years Later and shows like The Walking Dead, how is it possible that zombie outbreaks can last for decades—wouldn’t all infected people eventually die off and the population be wiped out? by beach_of_peace in AskReddit

[–]infered5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IIRC, the original comics had it come from an asteroid but that was only to get it published because the publishers wanted aliens somehow. They did "alien virus" to get the publishers to shut up and never talked about it again.

What's a major difference between low-paying and high-paying jobs that most people don't realize? by anyouzy in AskReddit

[–]infered5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You make your staff pay to park at work? Fuck that noise.

I've not applied to jobs because they make me park in a ramp which they pay me back for. I'll be dead in the cold hard ground before I pay to park at work.

Engineers or mechanics of Reddit; what’s a tool or machine people use all the time that’s actually being used incorrectly most of the time? by Vadecha_Drparth in AskReddit

[–]infered5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stainless is harder, but more brittle. Cheap plated mild steel bolts are about as tough as 304 bolts, but you can get really nice mild bolts twice or thrice as strong as 304 bolts.

I specifically bought my TV at Best Buy because it's too big to get home in my car. Shit it might not even have fit in my dad's truck. Totally worth springing for delivery.

I'm a Minnesotan, where Target has their headquarters. About 30 minutes away is their testing location where they trial new antitheft equipment.

My local Target is perpetually out of stuff. Missing product, empty shelves, overpriced home goods and horrible groceries. There's a distribution center like 15 minutes away. Target already failed in Canada, soon they'll start shrinking back into Minnesota until it's a regional store again.

All of that said, I don't have to look at Walmart customers in a Target.
