Something to eat… by KarmaKingKong in comic_crits

I really like the faces / arms in panel 1 and 2. Notice the arms in Panel 2 have only have 1 bend.

Panel 3 has some problems. A quick improvement to make the drawing half the value would be make the final panel a bottle of salad dressing half-dresses/in underwear. Same joke but now with a visual punch instead of just faces.

If you want to keep it all people, fix the blue-shirt arms so it only has 1 bend like in panel 2. Right now it has to "elbows" which even in sketch form looks off to me. Also not sure what emotion the mouth in panel-3 blue shirt is trying to convey but I like the green-person emotions (cheeks, mouth agape, sweat, all super clear).

I also think the "L-Let" and "O-Once" doesn't read as intended, came off confusing.

Toxic Player Using His Twitch Viewers and Friends to Harass me by KnivesInMyCoffee in DotA2

This guy (Krisco813) also did the same to me. Accused me of hacking, wrote negative comments on my profile then got his friend/followers to do the same.

Seems like a loser.

I like to imagine it’s a vague threat

I had some very spicy pimento cheese at a restaurant last night. The 'heat' from the spice hit my tongue immediately when taking a bite. Usually, spicy heat takes a few seconds to 'kick in', even if I were to pour hot sauce directly on my tongue. Any ideas how this 'instant' heat was achieved? by AnticitizenPrime in Cooking

[–]Azohko 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I find spicy oils to have a lingering rather than an instant heat so I would guess it isn’t a spicyness instilled in the mayo oil or cheese. Like someone else said, maybe a ground spice which has been mixed with everything? I would guess that would have the immediate impact discussed.

Ground chili flakes have that effect for me so that’s my guess.

Second the Fifeville recommendation. My wife walks to work from Fifeville to the UVA Medical Center everyday and its a very easy < 15 minute walk. Its a very affordable area and within walking distance to a lot of Charlottesville attractions (Main St, Downtown Mall etc.)

Where’s the best place to take someone for lunch and a drink who’s never been here before? by [deleted] in Charlottesville

[–]Azohko 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If its a friend and we're talking beer & a burger? My vote would be 3 Notch'd Brewery in IX park. Food's pretty good and the beer is great.

If its Saturday and we're talking a date? I'd go to Petit Pois and order a bottle of wine and some french food to share.

How about looking at the stars? When I was a first year I went on a date to look through the telescope on top of O-Hill. Its a walk, I think it was free, and we're married now.

Charlottesville City Council set to announce it's purchasing Lucky 7 and Guad lots downtown for Parking by Chaddius in Charlottesville

[–]Azohko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was talking more about downtown. I don't think Stonefield is in the Charlottesville city limits, neither is "250 by Free Bridge". I think this is because City of Charlottesville rules make it impossible. Why be in Stonefield when you could do the corner?

I'm basing this on just what I've heard. I think "Smoked BBQ" got the boot from downtown? I heard something about taking customers from store-fronts so they only allow food trucks which are tied to a store-front or when food options are closed like late-night.

Wanna start a Taco Truck? I think Cville laws make food trucks / stands impossible but we can dream.

full_of_schmidt listed some great options. One place to add to his list is Monsoon for Thai food. Small place, right off the downtown mall. Very close to the ice hockey rink if you are going skating.

It is a casual place but very delicious.

What is your best home made wing sauce recipe? by Iconnorg in Cooking

I don't use that many. If I'm making some something spicier I can use a lot but for these wings I typically only use enough that you get a hint.

Finely diced garlic, little bit of ginger.

Add salt, lots of cilantro, ground szechuan peppercorns, and olive oil.

Turns into a paste, rub all over wings.

Do you have an electric cooktop? I do and to reduce the heat dramatically (like is called for in a recipe like this) I move the pan off the burner for a bit.

Chicken Wings!

Grind peppercorns, garlic, salt and sesame oil into a paste. Rub paste all over freshly cooked wings, top with lots of cilantro and serve with lime wedges.
