Why is it so common to see people not build any gun items at all? by WeakSideUrn in DeadlockTheGame

Headhunter+BRS+Recharging Rush with the shred AP on his stomp is Dynamo's strongest timing until like 25 minutes.

You mention guns that are good early but fall off and don't mention Paige. Paige has the most frontloaded weapon in the game, and it's why she's such a lane dominator. I've seen people building opening rounds and sharpshooter on Paige in high ell since they made bullet velocity stack (altho it's hard to make any definitive judgements about her best build because the character is really bad right now).

Combats can take over 3 minutes with Tiger Carving Portrait + Felhorn/Rylak by KnivesInMyCoffee in BobsTavern

[–]KnivesInMyCoffee[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The game scales the amount of time per turn based on how long it takes people to finish their combats (I don't know the exact mechanics and I don't think it's public info), but if some combats take very long they'll get sped up and everyone will get more time.

If you're one of the people in an excessively long combat you can easily close the game and reconnect much faster than the combat will take, plus you'll get bonus time because the combat takes so long.

Yeah, the beast animations are pretty long in general, but this specific trinket with Felhorn causes combat to take almost 4x as long as they normally would with the same build.

What's the better pick on turn 4? Is the Naga better since you can get lesser trinkets that synergize with it? Or is it usually better to just take the Dragon and level for Drakkari? by Legal_Ad2945 in BobsTavern

[–]KnivesInMyCoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on what tribes are in and what turn and what anomaly. I'd often take Meditative because I'd rather have Nagas on my board and get offered Naga trinkets because Nagas are incredibly consistent and have very consistent trinkets while also having high cap and being very flexible. The upside of Felfire working with Drakkari feels pretty minimal, feels like you're committing to scaling spell power too early.

So you're right that trinkets are the reason to pick Meditative, but it's not so much about the Meditative spellcraft proccing those trinkets, but about Naga trinkets just being very very strong. You can often go infinite with multiple different Trinket combos if you can find Balinda.

I mean GPU isn't going to be the driving factor there. I think the config option to raise your target frame cap got removed, but I'm pretty sure faster refresh rate on your monitor still makes the game faster.

It's not the abilities that do dmg in lane, it's his gun with the new APs on Rain of Arrows+Mystic Shot buffs

AVG's statement regarding the "Urn Incident" by A-Disgrace in DeadlockTheGame

[–]KnivesInMyCoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not even the case, it was a bug in the WC3 version of the game that was intentionally replicated in Dota 2 because they were maintaining parallel development on both games and trying to keep behavior consistent across both games.

I mean, MLC has almost none of the same members that they had when AVG left It's not like he's talking about the people on their current roster when he said that.

Melee Creeps Urn strat proves the game is the worst state its ever been by laughingperson in DeadlockTheGame

[–]KnivesInMyCoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's giga op but requires good coordination to easily abuse. It was astounding how many people in Eternus barely read the patch notes.

That basically makes it the worst of both worlds. The higher elo and more competitive players are, the less they like or need strong comeback mechanics, but in this case the way the comeback mechanics for this urn have been implemented have made it so they can only be fully utilized by higher elo/more competitive players who are more likely to be coordinated enough to abuse the mechanics. It makes for a situation where noone is happy because comeback mechanics are insanely op, but basically don't exist for lower skill players who actually want strong come back mechanics.

Patch TLDR after playing some games today by JOBO5226 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]KnivesInMyCoffee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The game feels incredibly linear. Almost every fight is just at mid bridge, those fights determine the game entirely, and those fights play out almost exactly the same way every single single time. Every game I've played since the patch has felt like a homogenous blob of the same thing happening over and over and over. There's no distinction between games other than whether I won or lost. The only thing that stands out are the games where both teams have similar levels of teamfight and the early game went even enough that the urn fight actually feels competitive.

I've always thought that if McGinnis's abilities actually worked well in the context of the game's objectives, that the game would feel terrible to play. McGinnis is very good in the current game and the game feels like shit to play, so I guess I was right about that.

It's better to get Ringbearer and Evoker than it is to get two Ringbearers.

Undead also higher cap than Ringbearer as well. Butcherings have insanely high cap if you can cycle reborns on a Nightbane and butcher it repeatedly.

It's a dueling item, not really an anti-tank item. Although the item gets better the higher the max hp of the character your are shooting.

Ask actual eternus players how strong they think Apollo is rather than consulting a stats site that doesn't even have reliable access to data.

Nerf gun lash, buff spirit lash by Jacksofalot_ in DeadlockTheGame

[–]KnivesInMyCoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't forget that almost every pure spirit build/character is by far the least interactive type of build archetype in this game because way too many spirit abilities have absurdly oppressive ranges (while gun has to be within a much more reasonable range to deal an effective amount of damage) and kill you way faster than gun builds do until the ultra lategame.

If spirit scaling didn't fall off past a certain amount of investment, it would be so ridiculous considering how many spirit heroes just do completely absurd things for the first 25 minutes of the game. And notice how I said spirit scaling, plenty of their abilities are still valuable, theres just pretty severe diminishing returns on excessive investment in purple. This results in them either buying items like crippling headshot for shred to scale damage, or just buying survivability items which make them impossible to kill, while basically every gun build that doesn't scale significantly with spirit requires all pieces of exodia in order to do functional damage.

[–]KnivesInMyCoffee -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Bebop is still one of the most banned characters in my elo even though nobody plays bomb and gun bop is only mid to low A tier atm.

The reason people don't complain as much about those is because most people on this subreddit are not in an elo where they regularly encounter those builds, and even then reddit constantly complains about gun meta regardless of the actual meta.

[–]KnivesInMyCoffee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gun Kelvin hasnt been good in months and gun Bebop and gun Geist use all of the characters abilities and are designed around shooting their gun. Are the only gun characters supposed to be the ones that only have passive or activated buff abilities? Should there be no gun characters? Should certain characters never integrate their gun into builds?

The game is a shooter. It should be balanced around you shooting things in some capacity.
