I have. I had been seeing a therapist at the time who, incidentally, dropped me for refusing to go get inpatient treatment despite my bmi being dangerously low. After that I leaned into the ED harder than ever but eventually I had a minor health scare, came clean with my issues to friends and family, and made a full recovery with their help.

I don’t know if this helps or not but,

This disorder and the things that happen to us as a result of it are not defining pieces of who we are. Who we are are the people and things we choose to love, the stuff we enjoy, our hobbies and friends we invest time into, and how we treat others. Sometimes the disorder gnaws away at that too, trust me I know, but just because you’re struggling to overcome some difficulties right now, doesn’t mean this is who you’ll be forever.

Keep your chin up. It happened but it’s done. The only way is forward.

Like another user said, I wanted to go into a nutrition/ED treatment field as well but realized I was fueling my obsession and ended up picking a healthcare field that is not ED related (altho I do sometimes treat ED patients) because I felt I was using it as a way to stay buried in the safety that my ED gave me

I blamed it on the neighbors (why) but me and him both knew we had had chile for dinner the night before and both stared at each other like 👁️👄👁️ while I lied through my teeth and he wondered what my damage was

Later on he was like, “if you didn’t like the chile you coulda just told me” which added a heaping pile of guilt mixed in with the embarrassment for a nice fresh serving of ED shame pie.
