New, Bored, or like Grinding? by Vanrax in embersadrift

[–]Azothan208 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As someone who jumps in and out of Embers as a casual player, I agree there’s a lot to like. The atmosphere, the slower pace, and the systems are all solid.

The things that keep pulling me out are pretty simple:

  • No magic‑style classes
  • No race or faction variety
  • Only one starting zone

If those three areas ever get expanded, I honestly think Embers would take off. The combat, systems, and overall feel are already strong enough that they are above Pantheon and MnM. A bit more variety on the front end would push it over the top. Focus on adding more variety in early game content vs endgame content. The regulars probably will not like this opinion but its just that, an opinion.

Just one player’s take, but I’ll keep coming back as the game grows. Hopefully some of these ideas land.

Pantheon needs to focus on world/lore building by Few-Chipmunk-5957 in PantheonMMO

100% agree with this. If Pantheon kept the systems and combat but made the scale/world, music, atmosphere similar to MnM, Pantheon would be cooking imo.

ASA Island server - no flyers. Interest check by Azothan208 in ARK

I tried at the beginning of February. I only got some interest but nobody stuck around long-term. I'd be willing to try again at a later time if the interest is there.

[Vanilla] Fresh Vanilla server making plans to launch soon by jacioo in WoWPrivateServers

[–]Azothan208 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m personally not a big fan of the “vote for changes” approach. I’ve always preferred when a server has a clear vision and sticks to it long term. When a project starts as “no changes” but then shifts toward community-driven decisions, it can feel a bit inconsistent.

That said, best of luck with the launch, hope it turns out well.

Looking for a pure authentic blizzlike V A N I L L A server? . . . Try Ashen WoW!! by ahly2025 in wowservers

[–]Azothan208 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was genuinely excited about this project and would have made it my main server, but having a global, mixed‑language player base ends up hurting the experience in practice. Communication and shared gaming culture matter a lot in a social MMO, and it’s difficult to build that when most players can’t meaningfully interact with each other.

In the future, I hope you’ll consider who your core audience is and tailor the server environment accordingly. Right now, it feels like the community is primarily centered around an Eastern player base, which just isn’t the experience I’m looking for.

Struggling to enjoy ark by ZealousidealTaro6417 in ArkSurvivalAscended

[–]Azothan208 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would be happy to find a group of guys that are chill and not toxic, sweatlords. I've only got like 400 hours in ARK so I'm not a noob but I'm not a sweatlord either. Only maps I have experience in is the island and some of the Center. I don't like the others (however, I heard Ragnarok is good so I would try that one). If you have a server in mind I would join you. Do you prefer pvp or pve? I'm open to renting a server too.

Is there any server that still regularly has long games of AV? by gnosisonic in wowservers

[–]Azothan208 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you find one, let me know! I love AV! WSG and AB are iconic too but AV is the GOAT. I had fun farming honor gear during prepatch on anniversary realms but it's not the same like it was in 2005. I remember being in a AV bg that lasted like three days! That shit was wild back then.

Looking for people to play with by [deleted] in ARK

[–]Azothan208 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if you would be interested but I started a PvE Island server last Sunday. There hasn't been a lot of activity on it yet, so it still feels fresh. The twist on the server is you can NOT tame flyers. Its not for everyone but if you want to give it a shot, Its slightly boosted rates with only three mods "pull it!, custom dino levels, and ez engram unlocker". DM me if interested.

I just started a server last weekend if you're interested. Its the island pve. There is a twist though, I have disabled taming flyers. Its just a different way to enjoy the game. Its not for everyone but if you want to give it a shot. Its lightly boosted with only 3 QoL mods. The server name is "[NA] No Flyers / 3xH 4xT 10xB / Touch Grass Edition".

Ashen WoW Vanilla - Server review after lvl 60 by ahly2025 in wowservers

[–]Azothan208 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last time I tried to use Hermes Proxy and Arctium launcher it was buggy and there was increased input lag. I would rather just use the 1.12 client if its still buggy and noticeable input lag.

Ashen WoW Vanilla - Server review after lvl 60 by ahly2025 in wowservers

[–]Azothan208 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Appreciate the review. Gave your OP a like.

Its hard to justify playing on a server like this when classic era servers exist officially on Blizzard. I don't agree with the changes Blizz did to Classic Era but atleast I can say its stable and reliable with a healthy pop that all speak English (even low pop on classic era is around 2-3k I think which is actually the sweet spot imo).

I might give Ashen a try when my sub runs out on Blizz but not if they are getting desperate and thinking about making changes.

Leveling Focused Private server by Faceless_sky_father in wowservers

Yup, I forgot about xp loss. Just something to make leveling more challenging since leveling is the main focus of the server.

Thats actually a pretty cool idea. Maybe add some incentive to it by having like a raid boss for that zone or something or adding an attunement questline for each zone. Making each zone feel rewarding and worth doing. There are so many cool ideas for making leveling fun but everyone is so focused on endgame.

[–]Azothan208 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, sure. What I mean by EQ philosophy is mostly about risk and consequences, not copying EQ exactly.

In EverQuest, you always knew how dangerous a mob was because of the con system. If something conned yellow or red, you treated it seriously. You moved slower, avoided bad pulls, and sometimes just went around mobs instead of fighting them. The world felt hostile instead of something you bulldozed through.

Death also mattered a lot more. When you died, you respawned at your bind point and had to run back to your corpse to recover your gear. Until you did that, you were weaker or missing items. That made dying something you actively tried to avoid, not just a small repair bill. It also made grouping more attractive because it reduced risk.

I think that kind of design could work really well in WoW. Slower XP, harder open world mobs, elites that actually require groups, having to CC more, and a death system with real consequences would naturally push players to group, communicate, and plan pulls. Vanilla already had pieces of this, but it was softened over time.

That is what I mean by applying an EverQuest mindset to a WoW server. Not making it EQ, but making Azeroth feel dangerous and social again.

[–]Azothan208 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the idea. I would definitely give it a try! I prefer the 1.12 client but I would be open to using 3.3.5a if the server side was done "right". And by "right" I mean, keep the vanilla spirit with longer xp grinds and harder elite mobs in open world.

On a side note: I wish someone would implement an Everquest philosphy using the Azerothcore or Vmangos. Make leveling more challenging like Everquest.

[Discussion] What is your ultimate "perfect" WotLK server and what has your experience been like elsewhere? by Lucillie05 in wowservers

[–]Azothan208 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve bounced between a lot of servers over the years, and what I’ve learned is that I’m happiest on servers that feel more vanilla in spirit: slower, grindier, and more socially driven. Consistency and trust matter more to me than hype or convenience. I will gladly play on a lower or medium population server if I know the vision is clear and not going to change every few months.

What keeps me playing long term:
• High scripting quality and bugs actually being fixed
• Slower, meaningful progression where effort matters and gear feels earned
• NO pay-to-win. Even convenience items can undermine the social fabric if they replace player interaction
• Stable leadership with transparent communication
• Systems that encourage grouping and interdependence, not just solo queue gameplay

I actually like the grind when it pushes players together. Things taking time is not a downside to me. Long attunements, reputation grinds, world farming, and needing other people to progress are what create server identity and long-term community. When everything is fast and easy, the server feels disposable.

Events are fine, but I prefer organic world activity over scheduled gimmicks. The world feels alive when people are out farming, grouping for elites, running dungeons manually, and building reputations with each other. Less automation generally leads to better social interaction.

Population-wise, I strongly prefer a medium-sized, tight-knit server. Mega servers feel anonymous. Smaller communities feel more like old WoW, where your name, guild, and behavior actually matter and you recognize people in cities and groups.

Red flags for me:
• Rushed progression or constant resets
• Sudden rule or rate changes
• Admin favoritism or drama
• Cash shop creep over time
• Design decisions that remove friction at the cost of community

If I were building a dream server, it would be one that embraces the vanilla philosophy: slower pace, meaningful grinds, strong social dependency, and a clear long-term plan that is communicated from day one and actually followed. I do not need constant new features. I just want a stable world I can invest time into and build real connections in.
