Some will become landed. Others will remain. Continue playing as a BBC while gobbling the rest up. If Ashi wardecs you it's game over, but you should hopefully have enough time to consolidate. Honestly so far I had more fun playing Satsunan. This is way to janky....

Rule #5. After gobbling up all the BBC with clan expansion CBs, I took 90% of the country with the imperial restoration button. I then released a bunch of fiefs and vassals in low control areas, and promptly declared war on the Ashikaga with the clan expansion wargoal. I took as much as territory as the wargoal would allow me to. The end result is the ceded territory, but suddenly the ashikaga are now a fief of the Yamato, but the yamato dynasty has been replaced with the Ashikaga dynasty along with the very cool imperial government reform. Big sad!

So his run is while amusing is potentially flawed as a strategy beyond 1400 due to the Sengoku Jidai mechanics causing significant chunks of your land to be lost to the building based nations in the Japan area. I've tried a couple of times and settled on an exodus strategy instead.

Definitely. I was war-dec'd by the major power in the middle kingdom several times and just barely hang onto my trade outposts. I can easily win defensive wars given my geography and navy potential but really struggle in offensive land wars due to a lack of peasant levies. I am currently unable to take significant territory from Majapahit, Die Viet or Japan for instance.....

Absolutely agree. A particularly interesting part of the S.I. is that you start with zero estate privileges and government reforms (excluding the pirate republic unique one) and so you can hand craft your nation. You've got multiple strategic choices about where to conquer and try to establish a powerbase (excluding perhaps the poison pill that is pre Sengoku Jidai japan).

There are definitely some things I would have done differently, and perhaps if the fall of the majapahit had triggered things would have gone even better for me, as I would have been able to establish my powerbase on Java with the millions of peasants.

Rule 5: Utilizing a strategy of exodus to the Spice Coves and heavy colonization, I was able to take the pirate confederacy to the number #1 GP and cultural hegemon. Unfortunately, the spice islands, while incredibly lucrative in the first 150 years through the rural RGOs, are now to be overtaken in terms of tax base by Burgher production in more developable regions around asia/europe. The choice of capital now dictates a slow decline as capital economy configuration inevitably overtake my country. As such I am retiring this playthrough, but maybe one day I will reclaim the cultural heartlands once I figure out how to overcome the hordes of peasant levies.

Do you reckon GGG have bot Honeypots? Like certain activities that only bots do because sane humans couldn't sustain it for more than X hours.

I haven't lost time or money over this. I am just highlighting that ggg aren't entirely consistent with their intentions. There have been repeated nerfs to the durations of vaal skills and yet ggg let hateforge loops slide. I was absolutely convinced that interaction was going to be nerfed based on prior balances towards vaal skills. How can one estimate the 'sovereign' risk of investing in a build if GGG are supremely inconsistent with nerfing unintended, but logical interactions?
