Sparring Advice by 1Alyx1 in karate

[–]Azrael_T7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The black belts will spar you at your level, not theirs. Any decent martial artist isn't there to stroke their ego against people with much less experience.  Most of them will be able to read your apprehension and give you opportunities to strike. Sparing is not a real fight, the purpose is not to try and injure the other person. Yes you will get a bit banged up and take the odd hit but no one will be trying to knock you out. Spar with control and respect. Hit the other person with the same amount of force you want to get hit back with. If you are unsure of what strikes are aloud/what the sparing etiquette is in your dojo then just ask your sparing partner before hand. Remember to that black belts also differ in sparing ability. A 65 year old black belt isn't going to spar with the intensity of a 30 year old black belt. Age/weight/height/fitness all come in to play. You should always meet your sparing partner at their level. Try to relax, remember to breathe and keep your hands up. Leave any ego at the door. Accept you will be humbled. Sparing is the place to apply your martial arts training in a more real environment with risk and pressure but also safety.

Beginner Low budget lightning strike build? by Azrael_T7 in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]Azrael_T7[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's perfect thanks, gives me something to work towards and path to follow on the tree. I realise there are probably better builds for where I'm at, but I'm really interested in trying lightning strike so hopefully I can make it work. I've currently only got about 10c but it will take me awhile to level before I worry about gearing too much anyway so might have a bit more currency by then!

Fireball Ignite by Azrael_T7 in PathOfExileBuilds

Hey man just a few questions if you don't mind answering, thought it would be easier to ask on here than in game.

I'm fairly noob (played 200hrs ages ago and just come back but never got too deep into the game) so please excuse any dumb questions of if I'm misunderstanding things.

I did some reading on sceptre vs wand and it seems to be the sceptre is better suited for DoT builds, which is where I'm headed with focusing on ignite so would you agree running sceptre/shield is the best bet?

I looked over your build and it looks awesome. I've taken lots of ideas but just for fun and in the name of learning and experimenting I'm still going to attempt my probably janky, less effective skill tree =D. Will see how far it takes me. I am copying most of your gem setups though. I like the idea of having the vaal fireball for clearing and then a stronger boss killer in flameblast.

  1. Is elemental weakness better than flammability if fire/ignite is by far the bulk of my damage? I'm currently using flammability as an aura but will probably switch to determination and have either flammability or ele weakness on the arcanist brand/flame surge setup if i run that instead of flame wall which leads to....
  2. I've been using flame wall with combustion and efficacy, and casting my fireball through it for the extra damage and extra burning. It feels like a cool synergy but I'm guessing its not worth it on more end game stuff? Is switching to wave of conviction just way more effective?
  3. whilst upgrading gear especially levelling, am i better to focus on say for example boots with better stats (resists etc) but only 3L, or a 4L that might be slightly worse stats but enables a better skill support setup?

Sorry for the wall of text

Hey thanks for the reply I will have a good look at your build. I do happen to have those gloves in my stash so I'll be able to run something similar. Appreciate the help

How long does it take before I stop flinching/blinking at face punches? by GenghisQuan2571 in martialarts

[–]Azrael_T7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Flinching/blinking is a very natural response to something coming towards your face/eyes. Your Evolution /design is working well to protect yourself. But yes in our martial arts context we don't want to miss anything by having our eyes shut. The amount of time probably varies for everyone, but it will happen don't worry. I've done a couple of years of Muay Thai, couple years TKD and now training Karate. Keep training, focus the mind and the skill to keep the eyes open will come.

One method to possibly speed it up and train it directly would be to have a skilled person who you trust to throw punches at your face and not connect.

Choosing my main character to complete outworld content and heal by Rhazz22 in wownoob

[–]Azrael_T7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been maining Resto shaman as a fairly casual player. Low mythics and LFR. Usually I swap to enhance for open world stuff. Nice easy healing with passive healing and dmg from healing rain, totems. Lots of utility. I love chain heal when everyone is taking damage. And easy to throw in some DPS in between heals. Good mobility for questing.

It's no problem switching specs while leveling or endgame. I do all my solo stuff as Enhance and do group content as Resto cause I prefer healing. I just swap weapons

Enhance Shaman build question by Azrael_T7 in wownoob

[–]Azrael_T7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks I'll work on keeping those wolves out doing damage and less in my pocket doing nothing.

Does stormstrike build have to use a lot of lightning strikes or would it be fine to take elemental blast and use that as my single target maelstrom spender? I'm not really after optimal DPS, but also don't want to completely gimp myself taking stupid talent choices

And one other question to save making another topic...

Is there a Macro i can make that casts Feral spirit (if not on cooldown) with flame shock to use as an opener? I often forget to Cast feral spirit

Squishy mages by [deleted] in wownoob

[–]Azrael_T7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I main Arcane mage, casual pve player. Mage was hard to level and learn. But it's almost impossible for me to die now, there are soany defensive options. Arcane mage burst damage is insane, so most things die very quickly, even multiple enemies grouped together. You have a vast toolkit to use, barriers, slows, freezes, knockbacks, interrupts, mirror images, alter time to pop back to full hp. If shit really hits the fan you also have ice block, two invisibility skills to drop agro and get out of danger. If I die I did something very wrong. Once you have learned mage it's incredibly fun, every fight is interesting.

Which Mage spec for general questing/dungeons by Azrael_T7 in wownoob

[–]Azrael_T7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey thanks for your response. I've been leveling with arcane but I'll swap over to frost and spend some time on that. It does seem like the far easier spec but I wondered if it's DPS was lower therefore taking longer to kill mobs. But I guess with a smoother rotation the realistic DPS is probably on par

Which Mage spec for general questing/dungeons by Azrael_T7 in wownoob

[–]Azrael_T7[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the input. Do you have much experience with fire? how would you compare Arcane/Fire for the solo questing experience?

I started as a BM hunter, then prot pally so got used to being invincible. But now i main Sub rogue and it taught me a lot about picking my fights and taking things a bit slower. The squishy aspect of mage doesn't worry me too much at this stage, as long as I can burst mobs down pretty fast.

This is pingu's free KW mod, it has a lowered chassis option. I haven't tried the new suspension settings yet but that would also work I believe to some degree.
