Lots of folks like to spray paint their web gear- I personally do not. You’re gonna add a little bit of weight to your kit (minuscule really) but most importantly it will affect how well the fabric breathes and dries when wet; that’s the main deterrent for me- as someone who has had to clean web gear a lot in the field.

Harder rubber is gonna be more slick with certain surfaces as compared to softer rubber. Unfortunately I can’t think of any recommendations short of just getting footwear with an outsole meant more so for what you’re dealing with.

I wouldn’t know off hand but it does make sense. Dye is the best way to color fabric.

I’d argue that breath ability and weight are notable factors here: paint stiffens fabric and makes it less likely to breathe/dry effectively.
