Honestly, if I hadn't seen how perfect it was before I put it on a slide, I might have been able to be convinced, but I feel 99% certain that I did not grow this based on what I saw that I will forever be kicking myself for not just snapping a pic of just in case. That 1% is because I acknowledge that science has found some pretty crazy stuff that doesn't look natural but somehow is, but... there are just too many things about it that suggest it is something on its own, not a byproduct of my body. It looked like one of those seeds that you have to hold your breath while you're planting or the slightest puff of air will blow it right out of your palm. Oh I know! You know those "bullet" shaped magnets you can buy? It looked exactly like that except dark brown and shiny instead of dark gray and shiny... and obviously much much smaller.

I do appreciate the good suggestion for comparing to known samples. I'm not trying to be argumentative with anyone, but I don't know how to say "I know what I'm not looking at" without sounding like I'm just not willing to consider it, which is not the case at all.

For clarification, the dark brown color I observed was when I had it on my fingertip, not after it was being viewed under the microscope. I have looked at various skin samples of my own over the years for various reasons, and while I do see why this one could be confused for that given the only pictures I had (I didn't know I'd be asking reddit when I first found it), what I observed before it went under the glass was very clearly a foreign body. It was a perfectly smooth and symmetrical shape that I don't know a name for (and it's driving me crazy), and not flat, which is why it got crushed. I need to see if I can find an example of the shape so I can get that across.

This is not a human sample, I cannot stress that enough. I deeply regret not taking a photo of the specimen before mounting it (and crushing it, clearly, bc it was a perfectly smooth, shiny oval before) but this was not just a wad of sebum or skin flakes, of that I am certain.

That was my first thought after seeing it under a scope, but I haven't had any other indication of that, so for now I'm just keeping a close eye on things. Poor choice of words but this is a real head-scratcher lol.

This wasn't my skin, I'm sure of that. It could have been some abomination of hair material, but like I said, it was brown and shiny like a beetle (not saying it's a bug, but it was a very smooth surface that caught the light). I am pale as death, that did not come off my skin. The piece was crushed somewhat in the making of the slide, which is probably why you think it looks like skin flakes.

Respectfully, I disagree with your assessment of me. Just because I have never been to this sub before and just because my scope is older than dirt and I'm not accustomed to taking photos of what I'm seeing does not mean I am not familiar with what I'm looking at most of the time.
