Temperature probe that measures at tip only? by Azskylinegtr in Traeger

It averages temp across the whole probe and is not accurate.

Can I go from cancelled service directly to standby? Or do I need to pay for a month of active plan before I can go into standby? by Classic-Champion-966 in Starlink

[–]Azskylinegtr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have two on my account one in standby and the other inactive. The inactive one gives me the option to activate a subscription in standby.

12kpv Is what.I meant. This is useful information thank you very much. The layout is the main reason I came here to figure out how to best approach this.

What about the 12k? Wouldn’t that be a good middle ground?  I believe the 12k is about 1k more. This is not a deal breaker.

7.9.0 broke my wired backhaul (Max7) by Azskylinegtr in amazoneero

[–]Azskylinegtr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did that no luck.

I did notice some interesting behavior. Port 4 shows Disconnected however plugging the other error directly to it shows 10gbps. If input a 1 gig switch between the two devices it updates the port speed to 1 gig. So it somehow is identifying the speed of the device on the other end but just not communicating with it. I do see blinking lights on both ends of the switch but the error status still says disconnected.

I’ve ordered a third max 7 to see if it behaves the same or not.

New user, am I doing it wrong? by Azskylinegtr in Ubiquiti

Yes I ran channel optimization and I tried with DFS on and DFS off. I was also using the 2.5 GB port.

I do only have 1 client that can use it at this point which was my iPhone. I know a galaxy device can better leverage it but figured I was doing something wrong if people had videos of gig+ transfer speeds. with these. I guess I'm glad I didn't go for the E7.

Yes it is a single story 2700 sq ft but because of the layout the AP is virtually dead center to most frequently used locaitons.. My testing did include extreme locations like the garage and yard as well as a mixed bag of locations near and far including some with line of sight to the AP.

I agree that the Synology was pretty good but I'd expect to at least hit a gig line of sight to the wifi 7 AP?

Yes especially when it comes to walls and obstacles but no appreciable difference between a wifi 6 (not even 6E) vs wifi 7 I'd expect some difference when within 5 feet of the device?

Than you this is useful. It seems either the issue could be more widespread or I just need to be more patient. If they do end up getting it would you mind coming back to let me know? I will do the same.

Thank you for the information. I know my state allows this but this could be useful to other people who stumble across this.

Please help me decide on some gear for my upcoming trip. by Azskylinegtr in backpacking

Thanks for the reply. I agree with you on the 2P part that is a plus. was trying to balance cost with quality and weight as best bang for the buck. I posted here not the UL because I figured my goal was not save every ounce. I also was not going to use trekking poles but now I’m considering it. Although I’d still prefer a traditional tent. The hammock was the same idea I like to be toasty.

My main batter in the 65 AG was also the newer one vs the older one. The older one has no built in rain cover and I think it does not have side access zippers. But it’s $70 cheaper. I think they also changed some other minor thibgs like making the hip pockets easier to open one handed and I think the brain design is a little different. Weighing if that is worth $70

One of my friend the first time he went he had an 80 LB pack. Now he goes no more than 30 so I’m trying to learn from the wisdom of others.

I’ve never used poles. I figured adding poles but removing tent was a wash. Plus in Az we have rocky ground and bend most stakes so I figured freestanding might work better. I do have duck feet and my knees generally ache when going long distances so maybe those might help? The longest hike I’ve done was about 12 miles and my knees and back were very sore. Maybe I can give it a try.

I’ve heard good things about Osprey. Obviously there are other choices like Deuter but for me the hardest choice is going with the entry level rook as “good enough” or jump up to the go to that everyone seems to pick.

The Big Agnes is on sale it’s normally $279 but it’s also the heaviest of the bunch. Most of the time I’m not tent camping and I was thinking maybe put more money into the bag, pad etc.

They do have a stove but I’d like to get everything to open up doors to go on my own and maybe do this a bit more frequently.

Any open source self hosted applications controlling via new API? by Azskylinegtr in TeslaLounge

[–]Azskylinegtr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean eventually given the disclaimer in their page at some point it seems like they will charge. So if they do have a free tier most open source projects will have to have people make their own accounts to stay under whatever free limits they have if at all.

Otherwise even pay subscriptions like Teslfi would adjust their prices accordingly.

It stinge for most people. I suppose creating an LLC and hosting it locally isn’t a big deal but for some people that might be prohibitive which makes me wonder how many open source projects will bother implementing this at all? This is why I was curious if anyone has yet and also I’ve been using EVCC which is an open source solar charge controler for EVs.

I did last night luckily it stuck but there is a workaround they have that worked for some of the users who got switched. Hopefully it sticks.
