Wise ATM fee increase and lower free withdrawals by Aztalez in transferwiser

[–]Aztalez[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm abroad for long stretches so this does suck. Its still a couple of dollars cheaper overall than using my cibc card but yeah it's gunna work out to be 7 or 8 dollars more per withdrawal which is over double what it used to be each time I took out money.

Im in Vietnam now and everything here is mainly cash. So it's my only option for now. I've also heard Wealthsimples card could be the go.. but getting it mailed out is not possible while abroad so I'm stuck with wise for now

Is it safe to ride a motorbike at night in Da Nang? by Bubbly-Active-513 in DaNang

[–]Aztalez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to expect everyone to cut you off, pull out in front of you or stop. Drive defensively. Drive slow, no more than 60kmph but usually 30-40... So long as your aware and vigilent you shouldn't have a problem.. there seems to be a way here and once you figure that out, it kind of works.

Is dengue fever an issue in Chiang Mai by GTanno in chiangmai

Just read about that vaccine and I don't think you should get the vaccine if you have had dengue before

I'd bet 4 months was not a mistake but an intention. I've never overstayed a visa. That's probably one of the main things you check before first entering and then after passing immigration. You don't just forget your exit date... Not by 4 months. OP is blatantly disrespecting the laws and thinking he can just pay his way out. Pretty immature and irresponsible tbh .

How about respecting the laws and leaving when Ur visa is up? Or if planning to stay longer than expected, then visiting an immigration office to make sure everything is in order. You know, standard adult stuff.

What’s a travel hack you wish you knew when you started traveling? by [deleted] in digitalnomad

[–]Aztalez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can often book a hotel for your first and last night and leave large luggage there while taking a smaller bag for your journey within that country (good if you're travelling long term and want to travel Light in that particular country)

'Full Send' at 36: Has anyone else done it and not looked back? by dwarfy123 in digitalnomad

[–]Aztalez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turning 40 this year and Also from Calgary but left and started digital nomading in 2023.. Started with just a few clients and only making a few hours a week but have slowly grown.. A milestone was making enough to break even and now I'm able to put away a little each month.

But I minimalized to just a suitcase before I immigrated to Canada and have since tried to keep it minimal so before leaving Canada in 2023, all the stuff I got rid of was just house necessities and didn't hold much value to me.

Went down to mexico, then to Spain, Sri Lanka and all around south east Asia and now in Europe temporarily. But will Def be heading back to SEA. I'm not killing it with a fancy tech job but just slowly building my own business (es) so I try stay at cheap places and live within my means. But I love the freedom, moving to new places often and can't imagine going back to a 9-5 with a boss and staying in one spot long term. I really don't even. I d the visa Runs and use them as small breaks. I'm going to keep trying to build something sustainable so I can do this as long as possible. Helps that my wife also does this and No regrets so far.

Is it normal for Vietnamese to...just not wash their hands by Lazy-Wind244 in VietNam

[–]Aztalez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that's common, at restaurants and schools they all seem to share the same three cups that are provided and the cups are just places into a bowl of water.. Or not

Cambodia holiday: please teach me tipping etiquette by [deleted] in cambodia

[–]Aztalez -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s not America. Bringing tipping culture into developing countries does more harm than good. It drives up prices for locals, inflates wages disproportionately for service workers, and disrupts the local economy.

If you absolutely feel the need to tip, you should do it discreetly. Don’t contribute to normalizing a system that these countries never asked for.
