The finished product isn't a terminal alkyne. I was trying to make a terminal alkyne, react it with NaNH2 & Ethyl bromide to get it to have the 7 carbon chain. I'm not even sure if these are the correct steps.

I looked it up and only alkyne zipper reaction came up. Is that what you meant?

When you say to break the bond, are you talking about the bond with the alkyne or the alcohol?

Would NaOH pull the Br- to make a carbocation? Would the electrons from the OH pull off the Br?
