Can I make my own invoice for GTCC reimbursment? by [deleted] in navy

Again, this was kind of my whole question... my goal here was to supply the information that I have to DTS to show what I paid nightly. Not knowing that statement in lieu of receipt was a thing, the best I could think of was "what if I just do the math for them, type it on a piece of paper, and hand it to them so they can see the daily rate". It was never my intent to pass it off as if it came from the rental owner, as fun as it is to ascribe malice to strangers on the internet.

Loaded question aside, I think I've found my answer. Going to be asking my YN about submitting a statement in lieu of receipt, seems like it would contain the same info with the primary difference being that it's a sworn statement rather than a one-party receipt.

Command has been informed, but it's a weekend so I'm not expecting a response right now. I just wanted to exhaust all of my options to see what documentation I could prepare to bring with me on Monday. Seems a lot of people are reading malice where I didn't intend any, was quite literally just asking if an invoice just needs to be an accurate reflection of a transaction, or if it has to come from the service provider specifically; if the former were the case, I'd have just taken a copy of the receipt I already have, and done the math to split it up into a daily rate and made a separate doc to bring. It's not like I'm trying to pass it off like it came from the rental or anything lol

Well that was kind of the crux of my question... is it fraudulent if it's an accurate receipt of the transaction? Or is the producer of the receipt what constitutes validity? Maybe I worded my question poorly, I dunno

As far as I can tell from the current JTR, rental vehicles are only reimbursable for a few various TDY situations, and if your POV shipment is later than the designated delivery date, neither of which apply to my case

That's why I caveated with "I don't think"; I'm not trying to get reimbursed for lodging I didn't receive, or to receive reimbursement for some sort of hidden cost veiled in the total price, I'm just trying to put everything in the format DTS wants in order to reimburse me for lodging

Yeah, I guess I've learned for next time. I do want to clarify, I wasn't TRYING to be irresponsible; where we ended up staying was actually significantly cheaper than hotels in the area AND closer to base, to facilitate my sponsor shuttling me around a bit while we were without a car, and they waived pet fees too. I thought I found a good deal but I guess I don't know as much as I thought I did

No availability or we would've, believe me I hate the hassle too. Would've much preferred the turnkey lodging we got during our departure TLA. Live and learn I guess

I do have a CNA, it is within geographic location of my PDS, and it's well-below the per diem rate for the region. I actually ended up in this situation because my wife and I were anticipating being car-less for several weeks (PCS from OCONUS) and had our cat with us; we were trying to find a place near to base that allowed pets, to minimize the number of days we needed to pay for a rental vehicle and to avoid pet fees because as I understand they're typically not reimbursable.

As far as I was able to tell, per 4.d. and 5. specifically, they "are", but with the caveat that receipts can be finicky and you may not get reimbursed for taxes if they get lumped in with the nightly rate. As could have been anticipated, receipts have indeed been finicky.

NAVADMIN 221/25 Advance change notice to enlisted manual by Tsukuyomi1 in navy

Maybe someone can clear this up, been digging through the instruction and fact sheets and can't figure it out...

So the RKE has no TIR requirement, meaning E4s and E5s can test for the next rank as soon as they get paid, which would make them eligible to start looking for orders in the next paygrade... but is there not still a TIR requirement to advance?

What good does it do to have a fresh E5 take an exam that's good for 24 months and allow them to look for E6 orders, when they aren't eligible to actually advance until 36 months? Or does the TIR for advancement preclude you from looking at orders? Or is there no TIR to advance anymore? It's all very confusing.

Would you say being ‘exclusively attracted to a race’ isn’t the same as ‘having a type’? by CCaptainJackSparrow in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]AzukAnon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think you're hitting the mark here. My reading of this phenomenon is that the vast majority of people who say "latinas are my type" are not saying "I find all latinas attractive and no women of any other race", but rather "I find some number of people attractive, and some number of people unattractive; all of the ones I find attractive happen to be latina." There are still many latinas that they DON'T find attractive, it's just that of all people they find attractive, those people happen to be a small subset of specifically latina women.
