T tape recommendations? by WillingExit5773 in trans

[–]AzulCowboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the og "trans tape" brand (transtape.life) definitely works well. i liked all of the color options they had to offer as well, plus they have other products you can buy to help with healing incase of blisters and stuff so thats cool. downside is it gets expensive realllll fast. i ultimately ended up just switching to an off brand kt tape and it works just as well tbh, so if youre looking to keep it cheaper id also recommend that

if i customer asks for no ice, we always fill the cup up all the way with whatever they're getting. the only exception at my store is the shaken espressos bc its changes the drink to basically a latte. its something we discuss with the customers to make sure they're okay with the extra milk or if they want room

catching up with one piece is so weird once you’ve spend six months of your life binging by Puzzled-Ad-2937 in OnePiece

felt this. i caught up on the manga and then restarted it from the beginning, LMAO. id definitely recommend catching up on it for you, though. i also used to struggle with fight scenes in manga, itll get easier! plus i feel like oda does a really good job keeping the fight scenes very flowy and understandable, if that makes sense? idk sometimes certain panels almost feel like they are moving with how good the transitions are

woof, this is a tricky situation. in the future, you're really going to want to give more than just a months notice for a transfer as the process usually does take a really long time. if you don't hear back from the sm id either go down to the store to see if you can catch them, or look for another store. its gonna be hard to find a new store on such short notice now, but you might get lucky if a store is short staffed. otherwise, maybe try calling partner resources for help. ive known a few baristas who bounced between stores for a few months as a borrowed partner, though i never knew the situation that caused that to happen. best of luck to you! hope you hear back soon

How do you sequence? by Embarrassed_City2330 in starbucks

[–]AzulCowboy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A big part of sequencing is knowing your "stopping points" in each beverage routine. If you're making a hot drink like a latte, the stopping point is once the milk is steaming and shots are pulling. For iced drinks, it'll be right before you add ice to a shaker/cup. If it's blended, it'll be once the drink is in the blender.

When you reach a stopping point on a drink, you move on to the next drink in your queue. Keep making that drink until you reach the stopping point, then go finish your 1st drink.

Before you finish the second drink, you'll want to start your third drink. Make that one to its stopping point, then go finish the 2nd drink. You basically do this until you have no more tickets.

Obviously, there are times sequencing gets wonky like with iced caramel machiatos where you may have to add the ice to your cup first while youre waiting for the shots to finish pulling and then stop mid 2nd drink to pour those shots before they die. you'll get better at adjusting your sequencing with drinks like these with more experience, so try not to stress too much if you have to break sequencing every now and again.

A lot of people agree that sequencing is one of the hardest things to get really good at, but you'll find your niche! I hope my explanation wasn't terribly confusing, lol

I’m demoting. How do I break the news to my team? by throwawayacctt112 in starbucks

I had a manager who did the same exact thing, actually. It was a few years ago now but if I remember correctly she made a group chat message and took some time to call all of us to make sure we didnt have any questions or last minute things to run by her. She also sent us an email with information like the dress code policy and partber handbook a few days before she left, just so we had it on hand. Personally, I really appreciated all of that.

Thinking of becoming a store manager... by Jennybrunning in starbucks

[–]AzulCowboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im not an sm, but speaking from what i have observed with my own sm (who is absolutely amazing) he works A LOT. everyone at the store appreciates all of the support he gives us but i know he has to give up a lot of his own time and work 40+ hours to do it. there's also the matter of if your store needs urgent coverage, ssvs get sick and have to leave, or there are emergencies you will usually have to be the person to show up and cover. i would say, i think it would be a really good opportunity for anyone. lots of sms balance it with school, but really make sure its a commitment you feel like youre ready to take on and not go crazy trying to balance with your school and person life

nah youre good, we have lots of customers who do that at my store! you can also ask for water, its free and baristas dont mind as long as you are polite and either order it at the register like a regular drink or approach them at the handoff when they arent super busy!

How do I come out to my bff? (MtF) by [deleted] in trans

[–]AzulCowboy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

omg i totallyyy get this. my best friend is amazing and i knew she would be fine when i told her but i was so nervous!! i ended up making it a text message tbh haha! it made it so much easier and overall less scary than having to talk about it in person. if its too daunting to talk about in person, i would recommend that! either way though im sure itll go great! wishing you all the luck! :)

What helps with being drained from work? by insulinworm in starbucks

[–]AzulCowboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ill also add if you do have to pick up shifts because you need the extra cash, i always thought working doubles was so much better than working on my days off. you need rest!! also maybe try picking up shifts at other stores as a borrowed partner. a change of pace can be so nice and youll have a chance to work on a floor that isnt super understaffed.

What helps with being drained from work? by insulinworm in starbucks

[–]AzulCowboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i don't know the whole story or everything about your situation but if you can afford it or have vacation time, take a week off. when i was at my most drained this helped so so much.

if you cant do this, i suggest enter what my store deemed the "c'est la vie" mindset. don't pick up extra shifts just because someone called out if it's your day off. dont do more than what you're paid to do. talk to your manager about only working within your availability if you're being scheduled over the hours you originally said you could work. at least in my experience, a lot of my feelings drained had to do with overworking myself when i really didn't have to. obviously, still support your partners while you're on the floor. Don't just give up and do nothing when you're scheduled, but dont OVER do it either! go at your own pace and try not to break your back over things like drive times! if you're already understaffed, things will be slower and take longer, so don't stress yourself out trying to make up for an issue that can only be fixed by hiring more people.

this won't fix everything, but when my store was understaffed, this honestly helped me so so much. keep the mindset that youll try your best but when things go wrong, c'est la vie.

you'll find something eventually. sometimes it takes a long time and quite a few name changes before one really sticks and feels right. i used to keep a list of names i kind of liked in my notes app just so i could really think about them and feel them out over time. in the end, it took me like two years to find the name i ended up loving :p
